no beeb or chime at redline
I do not drive my car hard very often but I have wanted to hear the beeb. A couple of days back I rode it hard and reached 9500rpm and never heard any warning noise....I am a little hard of hearing, but my wife isn't and she couldn't hear it either. Now if my chime or beeb is inoperatve what's the best way to bring it up to the dealer so it can be fixed. I know they would probably say 9500rpm is not good for the car. Personally I think it is good for it from time to time. Ant thoughts?

If you don't hear too well, or even if you do hear well, it's easy to miss. It's not very loud and it's not continuous - just a short beep. If you had the radio on or the windows open you definitely won't hear it. You also passed it by 400 rpms.

Usually if you have your windows down you will not be able to hear the beep at all. With windows up and radio on mute I really have to listen for it in able to hear it. It's not that loud, and then add in the noise that the engine is making, it makes it hard to hear.
Today I accidently hit 10k in 1st gear and my car sort of died a little like the engine cutoff or something. This was the first time and I totally didn't mean to do that, but could this have caused damaged to my 8 or is it programed to "kill" a little so the engine doesn't blow up lol.

You should not need any reason other then it not working. 9500 rpm is none of their business when it comes to fixing the audible BEEP, which, if it was working, you would have shifted at 9000, not 9500, right? It was put there for a reason, and if it doesnt work, then warrenty should fix it.
Also, just a side note. The beep is not very loud at all, at least mine isnt. It is hard to hear, especially if you have an aftermarket exhaust, or the radio on, or even with the air conditioner fan on high.

Ther is only one beeper in your car. If the headlight on chime sounds, or the key reminder chime sounds.....then she's apples. You just can't hear the redline beep over the ambient noise.

Yeah, I posted something like this before...it is hard to hear but it's there. Turn off the radio and close the windows and do a test....but this time try shifting at 9K instead of 9.5...lol
Note: Don't worry, I've hit 9.2K by mistake...it happens.

Where does the beep come from? The radio speakers? I seem to remember once hitting redline with the radio up pretty loud and the radio cut out and was replaced by the beep, only the beep was quite a bit louder than normal.

It's the same one....different frequencies and changed db levels, that's all. The redline beep is 1500hz and 75db....key reminder is 800hz, lights on chime is 1000hz, TPMS is 1500hz beeps, etc.
The redline warning is the loudest.....the others are at 67.5decibels.

I personally would like something extremely annoying and loud.

How about a lovely female voice blurting out instead of the beep, "Please shift your stick sir to the next gear". Or how about incorporating a slight shock to the driver's seat when approaching said beep.

Yes, its true. Sometimes hard to hear. I have missed it on occasion, too. Could be Led pouring outta my speakers though. When I get rid of all ambient noise, and really listen for it, its there.

Another thing is passengers pretty much never hear it even if you tell them to listen for it! The beeps location seems to be perfectly suited so that the driver can hear it (but of course as all of us know sometimes it's easily missed) yet it is faint enough to be unintrusive.

It still seems strange that I hear it loud and clear for the other functions, but not for redline. I usally have good upper freq range hearing (there's a chiller with a new pump 15feet from me, and its whinning is driving me crazzzzzzzzzzy, the other people back here don't here it). Even with the radio off and windows up I almost can't here it over my quite engine.
