No fan light in dash??

No fan light in dash??
It isn't a big problem, or really a problem at all, just an annoyance. In pictures of the RX-8's interior, up at the top of the dash where the radio and climate control info is displayed, I see a picture of a fan blade and little graduated bars. I assume this is a fan speed indicator for the climate control, but I don't have on in my dash. But when I look at the screen at an angle I can see the cut-out of sorts for it, but it doesn't light up. Does anyone else have this fan speed indicator, or is it just a Japan-only deal, or what? Just curious....
And should I take it in to be looked at? Think it would be a warranty issue.....

Euro models get that because they have a real climate control system. Apparently it's too tough for our feeble American minds to handle an actual climate control system. "Blue mean cold, red mean hot! What this 'degreez' mean?"

Annoying.....
No, it's not possible, it's just an ECU function.
The really annoying part is that all the equipment is there, it's just not turned on.
If you look up by the windshield, you can even see the sun sensor for the auto control.....but NOOOO!

Mazda was probobly trying to keep the car under a price point. Some countries get auto climate control and headlight washers. We don't get either here. Honestly, I have a car with auto climate control. Believe me, it is not that big a deal. It does have the smart pass key/start like on the new GT package 8. I do kinda wish my 8 had that but not bad enough to trade it for a new 8 though.

I like my cool key. Interestingly, though, all the transmissions from the receivers for the key interfere with my cell phone depending on where my phone is in the car. I get that static crackling and popping sound like when your phone gets too close to the computer, TV, et cetera. If I want my phone handy and to not hear that sound I have to put my phone in the cup holder.

I'd always suspected it was something rediculously stupid like this. Although, my intial thoughts were that the same LCD dash screen was used in other makes by Mazda and that it just wasn't used in the 8's.
Now that i've found it is present in other 8's.....grrr. unbelievable.

If Mazda made a different screen for every option package or country they sell cars in, the price would go up considerably. I noticed all that years ago in my car. Honestly never worried about it. If I wanted a bunch of pointless, useless gadgets I would have bought a Cadillac or Mercedes.
You are right in that we do have to make choices as to what we want and don't want. Then make a decision as to how important it is to us.

Have you not learned yet that NOTHING is simple on here. I am actualy confused as to how it did not evolve into a debate over spoilers, gas milage, synthetic or dino, and there was no mention of a Crossfire (which does have auto climate control). Come guys, you are letting me down here.

there are certain regulations/requirements auto manufacturers have to abide by to sell a car in a certain country....euro cars always get the headlamp washer, auto climate controls, etc....frankly i think the equipment that came with the rx8 sold in the US is quite sufficient and yet keep it to a price point...besides, i'd rather have the twin oil coolers than a headlamp washer, or even a climate control.

I actually work for the supplier that makes the radio, faceplate and display for the Rx8.
As a matter of fact, we make a lot of faceplates for Mazda products.
...even though I have my rx8 stored for the winter, I get to look at the rx8 radio at my work desk on a daily basis, so it reminds me how much I miss the 8

So if i get my hands on a eurpean module -- radio and climatecontrol, is there no way to get it to work?
Also, some gwiz info, theres no automatic version available in europe. it's either 5 speed 192PS or 6 speed 230PS.
