No interests in automatic rx8?

i am selling my 2006 rx8. it is automatic, and i know many people in this forum don't like automatic. well i enjoy driving even though it is auto because it has paddle shift and it's fast enough to me.

it is on sale for 1 month. I got calls from 6 people but they all found my posting from ebay or craigslist. no one contact me from rx8club. Because it is automatic? or price is too high? no one said it is high though. i even thought it is low enough. do you think it is high? it is 2006 rx8 grand touring w/o navi but fully loaded and only 34k miles on it. I am asking 14500 o.b.o it is not a firm price, I will accept best offer, i don't understand why no one even make an low ball offer?

no one here likes automatics...we are given a bit of **** for having an AT :p especially the 4 port guys but eh!

my guess you get 13500 or 13000 for the car from craiglist.

I love my AT.....I am very glad I have it for my commute...commuting in stop and go with MT just sucks 100%. I've done it a few times in my other car and I'll never do it again unless I absolutely have to.

It's the fall and winter is on the way. sports cars usually do not sell well during this time.

It might be overpriced too. Color may make a difference, but i bought my 6sp manual with 41k for 11,700 back in march... And that was after i had a mazda dealer check everything on it. So unless it is pristine, and you find people who dont know anything about it, it may be overpriced. Biggest downfall to the 8 is resale value, the fact i was buying used is the only reason i got one. Similarly aged speed 3's were 5-6g's more, when if you were looking at new, they are that much cheaper than an 8. Good luck with your sale and putting the car in as many outlets as possible is a good idea. Also if you know what car you are looking for, but the 8 in those forums looking for sale or trade, i am still getting emails on occasion about a talon tsi i put on a subaru forum 9 months ago.

Thanks for replies. i am thinking 14000 lowest. if it is hard to get 14k, i would keep it and work hard for another car lol

8's resale value is just like sh*t!!

OP: My wife would've loved me 10x more if I would've gotten automatic for the RX8, but I would've hated myself 10x more. So I guess it evens out in some way or the other lol.

Don't worry too much, and I wish you good luck with the sale! Eventually, you will run into a buyer who appreciates your specifix RX8 for what it is, and the price you are willing to give it for.

Oh boy, you're starting to sound exactly like my dad now lol. And that's not a bad thing, since a manual tranny is not for everyone.

I bought my AT before I knew how to drive MT. I now have one of each (87 MR2 thats MT) and it's no problem driving the MT but stop and go commuting with it is just a chore...

Though... my next car after the 8, if it is another sports car, will be an MT unless they come out with much better paddles shifting thats not on a super car.

For all the potential bashers please read below
These threads are the funniest.
BOTH MODELS ARE SLOW WITHOUT F.I.
Most "true" sport cars/ super cars have now gone with a dual clutch paddle shifting trans. It's the wave of the future guys, deal with it.

OP- good luck with the sale, someone will bit eventually. I know people are pinching pennies trying to make ends meet, so just be cool and everything will fall into place.

yhea paddle shifters are very common on super cars, but it sux imo, i dont care if it can shift faster then i can. i think its just wrong that the 458 italia is only avalible with flappy paddles, the gated shifter in a ferrari is classic. btw the 458 is the hottest car ever built

To be honest with you, private party resale value for rx8s seems to be in the 11,500 and under range at this point. And yes, most buyers will see the automatic as a liability and a compromise...thus if they are going to buy it, they expect it to be even cheaper in order for them to take that compromise.

i agree the gated shifter is so classic and the 458 should have had it as an option!

i am sure it will be more than 11500. I brought my car to Acura dealership last month and they asked 12000 for trade in.

I can understand. Well, at least you have the best of both worlds since you own a manual and an auto.

Sorry for thread jacking OP, and I wish you the best of luck!

you will get more for trade in because you will be buying another car.. of course you could always haggle the trade in value at a dealer as well.

The entire car & housing market is in a state of collapse. So if someone sell a car fast they either got lucky or they made a good deal.

Cash 4 Clunkers and endless real estate bail outs can only go so far. The pain is just begining.

14 doesnt seem outrageously high to me... it is an 06 so i guess if i had to put a price to it i would say 13k which isnt much lower.

Hand out fliers at your local Highschool/college. I am pretty sure some girl's parents will give you a call.

What they show on paper and what they are offering in reality are two entirely different things. Take your car to carmax for an outright buy price and see what they tell you. Also keep an eye out on what the cars are going for on ebay (the ones that actually sell with reserve off).
