No RX-8

Well guys, I am going through such an ordeal. My 8 would not start last Sunday. Monday, using the Mazda roadside service number, a wrecker was dispatched to tow my car to the local dealership. Four hours later the wrecker arrived. I handed the key to the tow truck driver. He slipped the key into his pocket. Late that afternoon the dealership calls wanting to know where the key is. The tow truck company says the key was left in the ignition...the dealership says that's BS. Now it is Friday, and the local dealership has one key they ordered for my car since AAA is paying for the key not surrendered by the tow truck company. Now they are waiting for a second key that was ordered by the dealership where I bought my car. Apparently they need two keys to get the system programmed...am not sure why. Has anyone had such a nightmare? I hope to maybe get my car back some time next week. All the while my little car is outside, underneath a tree. At least a cover was placed over it...

when my car didnt start i jacked up the front, took the driver wheel off, pulled off the spark plug wires then socketed out the spark plugs. Pulled the injector and fuel pump fuse. Cranked the motor till all gas was ejected from rotor housing. put everything back in the reverse way. and it fired right up. took me about 30 minutes but saved me the hassle you decribed.

wow...that sucks. i'd want the locks and remote control codes changed because now this guy knows where you live and has a key to your car.

good luck on getting back soon.

Not with the keys, but I have a similar case ongoing right now.
I had to take my car to the dealer due to the ABS and DSC light illuminating all of a sudden.

That was on 11/2. Yes, nine days ago.

Since then, they are trying to figure out what causes the problem. They are allegedly in contact with MNAO who makes them run various tests, they replaced the ABS module two times (from which the first one was a defective part as it turns out), then they swapped the ABS module AND the PCM from another car on the lot and they still get the lights and different trouble codes.

Now, after 8 days, they decided to request a so-called "Mazda master technician" to come out and try to fix it - but that won't happen until Monday the earliest. This means I'll not have my car for yet another weekend - and then who knows how long. This sucks.

Frankly, the inability of both the dealer and Mazda left me totally flabbergasted. I can't believe they are unable to figure out the cause when they have a code that's supposed to tell what is the problem. To top it off, they don't call me to tell what's going on, I have to call them when I want an update... it's really frustrating.

I want to complain to Mazda Customer Relations, even though I know it's no use... but the fact that they spent over a week attemtping to figure out what's wrong instead of getting someone there who actually knows what he's doing is ridiculous.

Go for it: 1-800-222-5500. Let um know you're not a happy customer.

Now the date is Nov. 15, and I still don't have my car back...it is still sitting outside at the dealership...with some key issue from the dealer where I bought the damn thing. It has been ten days since I tried to go for a ride in my car and found it would not start. This is the worst experience I have ever had in owning a car.

If it makes you feel any better: you're not the only one. I still don't have my car either. Tomorrow it's going to be two weeks
Best (or worst) thing is, they still couldn't figure out what causes the problem and now they asked help from Japan.
I have a feeling this is going to be a long ordeal.

Didn't see you state why the car won't start. Dead battery, flooded engine, or immobilizer? Details please.

It's time to call Mazda North American Operations at 1-800-222-5500 to get the dealer off their butts.

It's Wednesday evening, and I still don't have my RX-8. Over the past nine or so days I have called and talked to everybody under the sun at both dealerships, at Mazda Roadside Assistance and Mazda Customer Service. Hopefully today the dealer who sold me the car has sent another key with transmitter to the local dealer here...and then maybe they can begin to find out why the car would not start. I really don't know why it would not ...I did get the immobilizer icon on the dash when the key was inserted...then later not even that would show...the car was just plain dead. Then the local dealer said the programmed code that is entered in Japan was wrong.....and it has just been one thing after another. If the car is not ready tomorrow I will go ballistic. Calling Mazda Roadside Assistance is like calling the federal gov't and complaining about your taxes...I don't think they really are interested in putting pressure on anyone.

Unfortunately, it seems that won't work - in California, the lemon law states that it is applicable "within 18 months from delivery to the first retail buyer/lessee or 18,000 miles on the vehicle odometer, whichever comes first".
My car just turned two years old this November
