A can costs $10. The Gen-u-Whine Mazda goop costs a squillion.....you wouldn't want to use it on something as trivial as a flat tire..... .

oh dear, this thread is about to go down the toilet!
anyway, you can either pay the $395 (i think that was the price) & get the spare, along with some reassurance/confidence, or you can use duh goo & fork over the $240 for a new tire (obviously more if you are replacing all 4). is that reassurance worth the $155 difference?

Mine came with the kit, I have been thinking of taking it out but I know as soon as I remove it I'll get a flat. Plus I'd rather have a spare tire than wait for a tow or use the "goop" to ghetto fix it.

but then again according to murphy's law, your tire will go flat on that one time your wife is about to give birth and you need to rush her to the hospital at top speed, so it's worth it then...
I wouldn't get it personally, I'm not married.

Also, having the spare tire in the trunk won't help your 0-60 and 1/4 mile times during your street racing. Oh wait, none of you steet race anyway so I guess it wouldn't make a difference.

Put it this way. How many "Oh ****, I got a puncture that I couldn't goop and was stranded on Route 66 for two hours...." threads have you read?
I was here when Moses was a boy, and I haven't read one.

However, you make a good point - might as well have saved the cost and weight of the jack and lug wrench if there is no spare, right? Those should have been part of the spare tire kit; is that your point?
Perhaps Mazda envisioned that you would jack up the car, take off the flat tire, then carry it on your back to the nearest service center for repair?
So, what didja do? Get a tow? Did you at least get the free Mazda RoadSide Assistance tow or did you pay for it? How many miles on your tires? Are you facing getting 1, 2 or 4? What sort of damage to the tire? Not just a pinhole leak or a plain tread puncture they could patch?
