i drive 60+ per day monday-thurs possibly a little more on saturdays and then fri and sunday im driving 150+ or so not really sure
i started april 09 with 53k miles and today its got 81k..........sad, ended up getting the car, then got a boyfriend miles away, lost a job, boyfriend ended up driving it for a couple of weeks or more to his job =/ (it should never have been driven haha but im a nice gf lending out my baby) then got a job and now having to drive the miles i do(above)
this car in the 30k+ i have owned it has given me no problems whatsoever i take really nice care of her anything that may seem wrong i have looked at
only things i have fixed on the car since i have had it:
-new stage 1 clutch(went out 400 miles after i bought it lol)
-spark plugs and wires
-tires
-tie rod end
-sway bar link
-bolt (in shift housing in tranny)
i think thats it! nothing major just your typical wear and tear replacement stuff (except the bolt in the tranny that snapped, not a common problem, just didnt allow me to go into 5th and 6th gear):D
i love this car so much!
(the people who have had it before me never took care of it like it was supposed to be)

I daily mine and love it. Not shutting it down cold can be a little hassle in the winter, but really not a big deal. If you know it's going to be a short drive, just plan a little time ahead to let it run. Other than that, it's probably the most fun and comfortable daily car out there. I drove it all winter long as well and it did great in the snow. I'm glad to see you've joined and are doing the research before hand. Props to you and welcome to the club. You'll have to post pics if you get one, or you will be called out and no one will believe you exist

But as far as this car being a good daily driver, ArXate is right about this issue being covered before and it all comes down to if you're willing to take the risk in case the car does start having issues.
This forum has taken the inevitable turn for the worse when the car started to become readily available on the used car market for immature/new drivers, so I echo ArXate's frustration of pointless threads that have been covered before.
If you're not 16, great, you won't risk our insurance rate by driving like a 16 year old.
If you are, then try to be more mature about owning a sports car than a normal 16 year old would.
No need to get mad, just a simple misunderstanding and wrongful assumptions.

Actually, pretty sure ArXate thinks you're 16 years old, that's why the answers aren't as nicely put as they can be.

On a less frivolous note...if we limit discussion to things that have never been discussed, then the forum would wind up shut down. IMHO, topics like "Is it a good DD" need to be rehashed because as the cars get older that can change. What might be a great DD as a new car might not stay great at 100K.
There are lots of posts with questions like liljoe's that are worthy of bashing, but there was something in his demeanor that made a bunch of us take to him and figure he was worth chatting with.

Well, to answer everyone's question...I am 32 and a former Marine. I have been around. This is possibly why I have a problem taking S*** from anyone. Anyway, I went to check one out. I am a powerlifter and feel a little too big sitting in there.
Once again...Thank You everyone for your help.
Even though I feel a bit big in it, I haven't ruled it out just for the fact that my daily is a FX4 right now and pretty much any car I sit in will feel a bit small.

But back to what I said before. If you do an Advanced Search using the key word "daily driver" and then change the Search window (underneath the key word) from Search Entire Posts to Search Titles Only, you will get 33 threads, several of which are exactly what you're looking for. You could have found the answers you're looking for or even continued your thoughts on one of those threads.
I think someone in one of those threads is a powerlifter as well.

I did that search to...Yes I did see the two pages of threads after I changed it. Just seems like all I kept seeing was, "My New Daily Driver"...which is okay. I know you can daily anything, I lived with cammed Mustangs on a dayto day basis.
For the other post...I have width problem. Without trying to sound like anything or a meathead or whatever, my current measurements and such is somewhere around this...5'7" around 285...57" chest relaxed, 21' and some change arms, 32 inch thighs. waist is somewhere around 38 +/- depending on how much water I am holding. Not sure on actual shoulder width(that is one I can not measure myself) but, alot wider than the seat in the Rex.
Like I was saying definately not a long leg problem. I know from reading some of the threads on here that there are some large bodies on here. Pico comes to mind after seeing his avatar.
It is what it is though I guess. If ya don't fit right, ya don't fit.
PS...I like I said I am not trying to sound cocky or anything, I just put the measurements there so you can get an idea how I carry that high of a weight at 5'7".
Edit...yes that is what I meant by Powerlifter. I meant bigger than the avg 180 lb guy or whatever, without going into detail about size like I just did to say why I thought it was a bit small feeling.

No, you're not sounding like a meathead by giving your dimensions. A lot of the "Will I fit?" threads lead to people giving their dimensions. Usually it's inseam, arm, torso, but width matters. I'm 6', 240 pounds, zero condition (42" waist) and I fit reasonably comfortably..but sometimes I wish the side bolsters in the seat could be deflated a bit.

Hi liljoe, I did not read the entire thread but here is my advice. The RX-8 is a fine daily driver. The only problem one would encounter is if you are starting and stopping the car (ie: start the car, drive a block, shut off the car). This can lead to flooding the engine and eventually carbon locking the engine. So, the best idea is to take the long route which is great because you are driving an RX-8.
Make sure to warm the car before driving - in the summer let it sit for a minute or two.
Before you stop the car, ensure that you rev up the engine to 3-4k RPM and then shut off. This helps burn off unused oil in the engine core. Just ensure you do not Start and Shut off.
