Noob Inquiry
Hello Everybody! This forum looks like a future home to me!!! I'm highly considering the purchase of a used 04' rx8. Ever since I saw a friend of a friend's rx8, I became obsessed with the thought of owning one. However, I am not familiar with what to look out for on used rx8's. Forgive me if this is a worn out used up 2 dollar ***** thread, but I thought of just posting it anyways.
Anyhow, I found a potential red 04 rx8 with 60k miles/manual at a local dealership for $15k. Is the car priced too high? Also, I saw on the carfax that the car hasn't been taken in for all those recalls I've been reading about online. Should I be weary of this? Being that it has 60k miles, will the dealership still take it in? What other things should I look out for when I go check the vehicle out in terms of the engine, ext, int, etc... I think I have a good grasp on how to maintain the longevity of the engine, but any advice on what to look out for from you professional rx8 owners out there would be greatly appreciated!!!

Depending on where you live that price may be a little high. I would haggle down, of course.
At 60,000 miles you're out of warranty (unless it has an extended 100,000 mile warranty) which can be bad news for the early '04s. It is automatic or manual? If it's auto I saw stay away. Some have ad success but it seems a lot of early 2004 autos take dumps.
Make the dealer perform all the recalls and get the newest flash.
There is a wealth of information on this forum- you can really find anything you need here. Be sure to read all the stickies and how to care for your 8. Good luck!

Are those honest to god whitewalls?
Yeah.......15k could be too much depending on options. If all was pristine and I had proof that all service was done, oil changes etc, and all TSB's and recalls performed, then I might go 15k........but this isn't the case. Do yourself a favor and go to www.edmunds.com and check it out. There is a lot of info on that site and a ton of good tips.

I think those rims look tight, Xtra clean trade in on a 2004 RX8 is 14500 last time I checked ( I work at a dealership) and the one your looking at has 60K on it, I doubt they own it for that much, just a thought as you bargain down the price. MAKE SURE to get the recalls done before buying it. Take it on a test drive and make sure its shifting smoothly at higher RPM's (incase syncros are going bad). Check to make sure theres no leak on the intake, mine leaked at 20K miles. If all checks out try to talk them down to <14K. Itll be tough but like I said, i doubt they own it for near that so give it a shot. Good luck.
