Noob Section?

i swear this must be the noob section of the forum. there are countless threads in here asking questions that have been discussed a million times.

take a little effort and SEARCH.

i dont really know why i made this thread other than to voice my observation. i guess at least if they post in here there is less crap threads in the other sections.

I fail to see a single post in this thread that contributes anything to the RX-8 community. Not picking on anyone, but I think a lot of us are guilty of wasting bandwidth on here. I can't even count how many times I've seen stuff like "free post", "in before the lock", "bewbs" and many other nonsensical things that keep bumping an otherwise useless thread. I know everyone points people to the search button, which I will admit probably isn't used enough. But for every newbie posting a redundant thread, there are atleast a few newbies reading it who have probably learned something.

Anyways, I'm still learning myself. Maybe I just haven't been here long enough for the "this car has no powerz!" and "what's the best mod out there" threads to really get under my skin.

honestly most forums have a NEWB section so that way people can come in and introduce themselves and get the stupid questions over with. Might help us out some by making a section.

I have to agree 100%.

Plus in most of the "smart" threads you still have to wade pass people getting so far off topic that the point is lost so people will still not find the answers and post a new thread asking the question again.

We all play our part here good and bad.

I personaly don't care if I answer the same question a thousand times if it help someone along the way. I know that I'm fairly new to this forum but I've been doing this since the times of the BBS, that thing before the WWW. Know matter how much you search you may not find the answer you are looking for so you ask it again in hope that there is someone with fresh information out there. I can search a subject on here and find a thread that dates back to the beginning but that doesn't mean that new information has come to light since the last post and I wouldn't want to refresh an old post with 6 pages to sift through for something fresh. Just my 2 pennies since I've seen some people write a longer post to flame a noob than it would have taken to answer the question again.

Maybe this should be in the suggestions section. but. why dont we make a noob section, or make a better version, and more visible/ accesible FAQ section.
It seems the FAQ doesnt answer the most frequently asked questions. such as, OMG water is in my tail light! or how do i de-badge my car? or whats the best mod to make my car faster?

IMHO, this is the noob section, and appropriately so. If there was a dedicated noob section, the only seasoned members who would visit were ones who always wanted to be on a Welcome Wagon. Posts here get noticed by everyone, who then may or may not choose to reply.

There are some Post #1s that are just trolls, or just so stupid that the poster deserves derision, but I see a lot of reasonable newbie posts that get pounded for no reason other than that there are a few here who like to pound, and a few copycat pounders.

I agree with you about the FAQs. They were probably great in 2005 or so, but they haven't captured the more recent frequent questions. Since I'm not volunteering to do anything about it, I'm not in a position to complain. But the "Read the FAQs and search" crowd should take that into consideration.

Guess I am on the top of the offenders. but then thats me
I do not mind answering the same questions over and over. Do not mind reading lots of posts on the same subject.
Wonder why it bothers others? One does not have to read every post. Just skip them.
