Not having problems with my 8

Starting it up this morning, I noticed that my 8 didn't flood. In fact, now that I think about it, it never has. On the road, the "check engine" light never came on. And whenever I shifted (MT), the shift lever easily went into whatever gear I chose. (For example, if I was upshifting from 3rd to 4th, the shift lever would slide easily out of 3rd and into 4th gear.)

Is anyone else experiencing this?

yes a lot of us do not have problems.

it's just that only the people with problems make a thread concerning it. that's what leads trolls to venture out and say the rx-8 isn't reliable.

Only problem I've had is flooding once when I first got her. Backed it out of the garage when it had been off for 24 hours, and turned it off after about 5 seconds. It was also about 40 degrees outside. So besides that, everything is fine. Runs great!!

Same here, I've had four rotarys, a '74 RX3, a 1st gen 7, a 2nd gen 7 and now my '05. No problems and no flooding with any of them.

Nice post!

I'm at 14000 kms, and I once had a rattle that lasted about 1000kms, and went away on its own. Other than brake noise, the car has amazed me...this coming from a guy who finds fault in everything!

31,000 miles, mostly problem free.

- Flooded once, but I got the upgraded starter and batt, so ultimately I don't mind the invonvience.

- Headlights replaced for film. New ones are starting to get film on them. anyone know if there is a 12k mile limit for headlight replacement or if it's the full 48k?

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head...

Every day for 24,000+ miles. However, I am experiencing these conditions:

- Occasionally at stoplights, someone will roll down their window and motion for me to do the same, and I will hear them say "Nice car!" or "Wow, that's cool, what is that?".

- If I take it for a long spirited drive, I notice that my cheek muscles ache from smiling for an hour straight.

- I find that I am often unable to shift the transmission unless the engine has been wound to the redline by means of wide open throttle and I hear the rev-warning "beep".

- After washing and waxing it and parking it in the sun, I find that I am unable to leave it alone in the garage, and instead find that the only suitable remedy is to set up a lawn chair at a suitable viewing angle, put some classic rock on my garage stereo (a feature every suitable garage should have, I might add), and drink a beer while admiring the shine.

But, I find I can deal with those issues - afterall, it is a sports car.

Best Thread Ever on This Board

I have now put 5600 miles on my beautiful 2005 six-speed. Winning Blue.

I am sorry to have to tell you guys this, but . . .

I could go on, but I will just say that owning and driving my RX-8 is the second greatest pleasure in my life. The worst thing that has happened with this car was when I put a dent in the trunk lid by slamming it shut with my elbow after lifting four large bags of groceries out of the (spacious) trunk -- d'oh. Paintless dent repair made that dent, plus two small door dings, vanish without a trace for $160.

Make this sucker a sticky, so the newbs don't have to post the "Is it reliable......." question?

23,000 miles, a little over a year, no CELs, no misfires, no floods, no hard starts, no problems.. even the center console is behaving.

I did have the driver's side visor go ker-blammo, replaced under warranty.

I do have two very minor rattles.. with time, I'll fix 'em myself. I allready know where they are and what they are. They only show up in temps of 75*F or lower.
