If it's just dusty, the California duster works very well. I wouldn't Z6 it while dust is on it, seems more likely to scratch.
I try to wash whenever a stretch of days without rain is forecast. Now that I've got a bunch of layers of Z2 and Z5 on, I don't polish as often, maybe once a month. Still looks great after just a good washing and detailing.
Gonna start a OCD thread in the Lounge.

The water is so hard in my neighborhood, I will only wash my car with distilled water from those 2 1/2 gallon containers. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm crazy but it is so easy to clean that way.
My garage is full of junk, so I can't park inside it yet. The car has gone for several weeks without getting washed. But when you use distilled water and you don't let anyone wash it but yourself, it's amazing how she cleans up so quickly.
I'd say Zaino is much better to treat OCD than lithium.

I got one of those Mr. Clean spotless car things and I've been just using the clean-rinse part of it (with the filtered water) to do a final rinse-down on the car after I wash it with good results. I don't use their cleaning stuff or anything, just the filtration part.
I've been considering getting a water softener installed at the house primarily for washing the car...

sferrett, you had luck with that Mr. Clean gizmo? I've been pretty suspicious of those things, ever since we had an industrial-grade water purifier that didn't really work. My tactic for washing has always been "dry fast", which is a real pain. I'd like to avoid that, so maybe I'll pick up one of those filters.

Yeah - I did dry it with a towel also, but usually I still get water marks from the little amount of water left over from the towel. After rinsing off with the filtered bit of the Mr Clean thing, there were no marks after toweling.
