Cool Fubar-Da-Man

I personally appreciate all the help that FubarGuy has been, and if you're still reading, Mazda, he has done a world of good for your P.R. (Waaaay more than any of your own efforts!)

I would hope that you will "recognize" his efforts in a 'substantial' way..........

Thanks for this latest update, FuGuy, we will all be waiting.

(Not that I believe the 'personal inspections' story for a moment, it is a transparent crock - those '8's have been sitting in rows for the whole time - but whatever you say.......but thats just the way I am.)

If that's what it takes to get my car out of the lot, onto the truck, and into my driveway . . . no i won't i'm not a that desparate yet . . . well maybe i would take it . . . no i think that would be excessive . . . but maybe all i'd have to do is replace the glove box . . . hm . . . he, he, he i can't take it where's that axe?

oh yeah, my name's not jack. i don't live in a ski lodge. it's not winter.

what can i say, the wait is getting to me. i'd really like my car. soon. but i'd also like my car to be perfect, so i guess i'll just keep waiting and try not to offend the powers that be too much. i am still sleeping at night though. haven't descended to that level of madness yet, maybe.

don't worry about that twitch folks, and i promise to not bring loaded guns to car dealerships, at least not this week.

i don't even own a gun, yet

OK Mazda, here's your last chance.

The PERFECT RX-8 commercial background music from an artist as unique as the RX-8 can be heard at

http://home.satx.rr.com/rx8uberalles

I am making this so easy for you! Tell your marketing department USE THIS, AND YOU WILL SELL LOTS OF RX-8s!

(and for giving you the marketing tip of the year, I'd be happy to accept the 6-disc changer that I thought came with the vehicle when I pre-ordered it in January) D:D

And this is my final post on the matter... didn't mean to hijack the thread, so any further discussion should continue at

Thanks for the opening, ibfubar2000!

Hey moderators::::

Now that ifubar has a direct contact at mazda....
Can we give mazda (or this contact) their own "write only" forum so they can keep us more informed easily, directly, & without harassment? After all, while they're reading this forum, they may as well just post in a special forum rather than having to hunt us down. What do you think?

now that we have some "official" word....

maybe they can give me an "official" explanation as to why I was the first pre-order/deposit at my dealership, but a few other cars will be arriving at the dealer before mine. Two or three made the first boat. NOT MINE. Not only did it not make the first....it didn't make the second boat. This is messed up.

yeah, that's right....... FIRST = LAST

I bet they show up on July "8", or 7-8, there's special meaning to those numbers.

ibfubar - I to thank you for all the help you've been. I personally know 3 people who have had you check their VIN for them ... sometimes repeatedly.

I've known that Mazda reads this forum and the rx7club.com forum for years. They'd be stupid not too. Thank you for passing along their words.

A Job Well Done!

To: Ibfubar2000 and Budaman:

Thank you for going way beyond the expected. Your input and level of answering consistently was reassuring.

Forums are a living dynamic thing. We all can sit around and read what people are discussing, and then, BAM! Something gets under you skin and your laughing or making sure your getting your point across on the forum.

Ibfubar and Budaman, your posts were like being fed regularly.

Thank you for "filling us with the good stuff".

Mazda is very wise to listen to it's customers, or those who could be.

....I'm really looking forward to replacing my "beater car" 4-door 91 Geo Metro.

Shameless Plug for the Forum. Mazda, if you are reading this board, you understand you are getting valuable marketing info directly from the customer. Most company's would kill for that. How about a little donation to keep the board up! :p

Perhaps they should talk to Mazda Europe and tell them to do the same. Read Europe Forum and counter the negativity!!

It's probably fact that we'll be waiting until Oct/Nov though

I'm also wondering if Mazda Canada is also reading these posts. We seem to be getting very little information here until just recently in our posts, and even then it's sketchy. To date, we have received two shipments and they are still at port.

I'm assuming Mazda will not release Canadian cars until they are released in the states even though we only have 240 at port.

Or Mazda UK. We have had sweet FA from them although sending then group and single letter requesting information. We realise that there is now a delay with deliveries into the UK (Oct) but they could manage this information a bit better.

Only positive I can see is that you guys will be able to update us on the good, bad and ugly of actually owning the car.

"released" = (definition)

I haven't seen this many immediate replies in a while (not since the VIN status thing) - but - what does 'released' mean? Does it mean the cars will leave their respective port locations for the dealers on trucks, in general? Best I can tell is my dealer in MD is a good 4 hour drive from the port in NJ with no stops. But they're only getting a few of them so others will start out on the truck. Could it take a few days just to leave port, say Monday, to arrive at the dealer Weds - Thurs? or... ?

Thanks much Budaman and Fubar.

To Mazda: if my recollection is correct, corporate Mazda has always said delivery will be mid summer. So from that perspective, we are right on time.

My dealer, however, has been telling lies and half-truths since January. Although, the dealer is independent, communications directly from Mazda or better control of the dealers would be greatly appreciated.

I hope Mazda realizes the remarkable opportunity they have in this Forum, just given to them, without effort. Feeding the Forum reliable information, funding and perks would really help customer relations.

Fubie, you're the best!

Finally, dispelling rumors about the poor schmucks who have to drive 15k miles right quick before cars are released. They were probably parked on the side of the road overheated, if they were actually ever in 8's at all, cuz it's all probably a big Mazda conspiracy anyway. Thank goodness we had tape from Tacoma to prove 8's actually exist. I wonder if those Mazda techs ever caught up with the ship loads of cars all across the globe to switch out parts they forgot to test...

How can we be sure Mazda is actually checking cars, or simply perpetuating the coverup conspiracy? Is the truth really out there?

bwahahahaha

Ya gotta admit, this forum's been an inane rumor feeding frenzy.

Oh, crap! I'm winning the lottery next week. RX-8 delivery is *not* convenient for me at that time. Darn that Mazda, it's all their fault! hahahaha Oh, the whining!

I'll see you in my new 8 NEXT WEEK. Thanks again Fubie!

No disrespect to IBFUBAR, it appears that he and Budaman did all they could to break the apparent planned lack of info being provided by Mazda corporate. It was the fact that they said they would provide periodic updates at various milestones (VIN assigned, build date, ship date, etc.), and did not deliver that has so many customers peaved. Using IBFUBAR as an informal deliverer of updates is lame.

They established a formal customer relations office that has all the preorderer adresses and should be providing formal updates as they promised. What about the poor schmo's who have preordered, put down money, and don't monitor the Forum, who is going to deliver this update to them. I'm sure Mazda has left that up to each individual dealer to make up excuses as they see fit, they are car salesmen. If Mazda truly was informing all dealer, they would all be delivering the same story, this thread is proof that that did not and is not happening.

If Mazda is monitoring this Forum, heres some advice. Your customer service department, is not, did not, and oviously will not keep the promises that Mazda corporate made to its RX8 preorder customers. If they're not family, you need to fire them.

All the lack of info, and unplanned delays, has everyone close to the situation thinking that something is wrong with this car. And no informal thread by a Mazda employee is going to make that go away. You think your car is getting gone over with a fine tooth comb at port, now I will truly go over my car very closely, where I might not have before. All the delays and secrecy will have a direct effect on your warranty claims. Oh look here theres a wire bundle not tied down behind my glove box. Whats this a stain on the carpet underneath my back seat. You get the message, what goes around, comes around.

Dealership control

Interesting comments:

This makes me think about being younger and working on my car and wanting to get advice from someone (free if they would talk to me - since I had very little money) about how to take this part off my car, or what does it take to pull the transmission.

What I'm saying is that - you can tell with some people, if they'll share their knowledge with you or not. Others won't. Usually, I would then seek out someone else who would answer my "beginning mechanic" needs.

What is that I wanted to get? I wanted to have someone tell me how to do the work so I didn't have to pay to have them or someone else do it, and save money.

Some might say that that is a cheap way treating the service department; asking how it's fixed or how to do it myself.

I know otherwise; this is the very reason I would go back to such a place because I knew that they were credable. Yeah there were times I couldn't fix something. Who do you think I chose to take care of my car needs? Yeah, the guy who took the time to listen to me previously. NOT the guy who just blew me off as some kid with no respect for the dealership.

The dealerships are independent businesses in themselves. Yeah they represent "Mazda", and maybe a whole bunch of other car companies also, depending who they are.

If my local grocery store sells Hagen Daes ice cream, I'm going there no matter what the place may be like (within reason); because they have the product that I want.

I think dealerships are the same. Everyone of them is different but the all sell the RX-8. Who's responsible for the product? Mazda, not the dealership....and I think they are trying to do a good job....at least it seems to be the case....since someone I've never met with the name "Ibfubar2000" (you'll have to tell us what that means....no wait, don't...you could just end up being hounded by my "types") has listened to me....which, as I've already lengthfully stated, makes all the difference in the world to me, the customer.

Fubs, Budaman, and others have showed something special in their dedication to this forum that I find credable. What's in it for them? It doesn't come across as a sales pitch at all; I like that.

Yesterday (July 2nd) I called my dealership to see if they knew anything about when my car would be in. I was talking to the receptionist. She stated that the car was not coming till sometime in August. I started to ask for salesperson names and none of them were in. Basically I got zero info from my dealership.

Then I get on the forum and here is Fubes doing it again, giving us info to help us know what's going on......And it's MAZDA who really is listening so as to tell us what to expect, and they decide to contact Fubes to let us know --- way cool and unexpected!

Dealerships are the weak link and we must all be careful with who we are dealing with. I think managing what you want a dealership to be like would be very hard, sort of like 3 different Italian restaurants; all serve food, but we all know who has the best service, which is part of the reason we decide to continue to go there.

Sorry for the length, but I hope it gets the concept across.

Not sure what the 2000 means (probably just the year), but IBFUBAR stands for:

I Be F*cked Up Beyond All Recognition (or Reason depending on who you ask). FUBAR is a common term used in the military and is quite old.

If this isn't what he means for it to stand for, then I have no clue.

I left the UK because of the weather from October to March - talk about grey, wet and dreary. But then so is April to September except for that week of summer in June...

There are 2 reasons the car is late.

1: Nationwide rollout. Lets get everyone the car at the same time and have a media blitz surrounding it. Simple, explosive, and impressive. So what if it pisses off the current customers, they already purchased so it does no real damage. (not a dig at you or mazda, just pure business)

2: They found an issue in japan. This is *NOT* a bad thing, its a first run of an ENTIRELY new car. Not just a slightly new car, or a rehash of another vehicle but entirely new. Something absolutely will be odd in terms of how it works. Rather than issue a TSB or recall which are expensive, fix it now. It could be as simple as a bolt that was not locktited and caused a rattle, or it could be something someone noticed and figured it should be fixed before a major rollout.

Ok, one more. Mazda does not want to repeat the rx-7 in terms of percieved reliability. They know the car is different, so mechanics will not be able to diagnose it properly off the bat. Any issue they fix BEFORE the mechanics get it will save them 10x the money, and allow them to build their reputation. Rep = sales.

Scot
