2: They found an issue in japan. This is *NOT* a bad thing, its a first run of an ENTIRELY new car. Not just a slightly new car, or a rehash of another vehicle but entirely new. Something absolutely will be odd in terms of how it works. Rather than issue a TSB or recall which are expensive, fix it now. It could be as simple as a bolt that was not locktited and caused a rattle, or it could be something someone noticed and figured it should be fixed before a major rollout.
OK, first of all, this "Nationwide Rollout" has been fabricated on this forum based on total speculation. There has been NO confirmation that this is true.

Second, if there was a "recall/TSB" issued in japan, one would think that our Japanese members would have known and mentioned something about it - which they have not.

The way the rumors have been flying on this board, we should have a cure for cancer any day now!

well i hope you enjoy your rental car you will be driving in as you make your rx8 car payment, sine you wont be able to drive the rx8 because it is in the shop weaiting for a "special" wire clip that will probably be on back order for a month or so. oh and since it is a wiring harness it is probably safety item so the dealer can not give you back the car until the "special" wire comes in. oh please i wish you would bring your car into our service dept to have us look at it, our techs will need a car to test drive to se if the wire is still in place, we will have to put lots of miles and lots of test drives to make sure your car is done right. so enjoy your rental car!!

are 3rds allowed? one more week - +/- a day or two.

IB/2000 - can you give me your interpretation about the 'release' - does it mean from the various ports to the dealers? (PM if you'd like), thanks!

Agreed, with all the complaints about not having received any info, you'd think that once we have some info people would be happy. Maybe this is why we haven't heard anything - because when we do, there's so many people bitching and moaning.

Sure I would have liked to have my car last week, but oh well. It doesn't change when I get the car, but at least now I know why and when.

yes. next week the cars will be released from the port to the dealers. so depending on how long it takes to get to the dealer, how long the dealer takes to pdi it, and how long the dealer wants to wait to sale it. is when we can expect the cars.

FUBAR: Most of us truly appreciate the information and favors you have done for the forum. Please, don't let a few malcontents discourage you.

It seems the frustration level for some of us is pushing us to the limit. Let's keep in mind, this is supposed to be FUN! Rumors, misinformation, flames, complaints, facts, video, etc., all of it is part of the experience. The bottom line is we are some mostly well informed people that love cars.

Pretty soon I expect the tenor of the forum to change dramatically as we share our experiences and reactions to our new 8s. Let's have fun with this and go with the flow.

yeah and its beacuse most of the people do appreciate the info that i will continue to look up vins and any/all info i get will be posted. it is just a little discouraging, when i think i am doing a good thing and it just seems to fuel the flames. i try to be nice and it slaps me in the face sometimes, but i guess i will just keep getting slapped by everybody, most on the back and a few in the face....

Another one for your back here.

I'd like to say that I apologize on behalf of our more petulant members, but they'd probably get snippity about that, too.

I will say it once again, I did not mean any disrespect to IBFUBAR. I do believe you and budaman have been great on this forum. I think you have misunderstood my comments.

When I first ordered my car on the website, I was told to go to my local Mazda dealer and work out the price. Quality Mazda specifically stated the first vehicles were due in mid May. They had documents to show this date. We put down the deposit and waited patiently. We have never heard a word from Mazda, and our dealer did not receive any information from Mazda. We were contacted by the dealer in mid May and told the car would arrive prior to June 15th. Again, the dealer showed us the printouts verifying this. Well, on June 12th we were again contacted and advised there was another delay. No reasons given, and our dealer was a bit concerned about the lack of information they were receiving. We were then called a week later and told the car wasn't in the first allocation. The Pensacola dealership had the car we wanted in the first allocation and so Quality Mazda refunded our deposit and we put the money down on the Pensacola car. We were given a date of July, Week 2, and then it was moved to July, Week 1. We talked with the dealer on Wednesday and they were expecting the car on Thursday. We arranged for Thursday off. Wednesday afternoon we receive a call stating that all dealers were informed during a conference call that the cars were not being released until Monday, July 7th. The dealer said it could take up to a week, once they were released, to be received by the dealership. No guarantee that the car would be to us next week.

My concern is that Mazda stated on its webpage that the RX8 was coming in summer 2003. That is fine. But don't tell the dealers mid May, then delay until June, and then delay until July. I don't know that anything is wrong with these cars. For all I know, they could all be perfect. Mazda has a responsibility to keep the buyers informed. They were the ones who stated they would send out the informational emails at critical points during the manufacturing and shipping process. And the information should be sent to everyone, not just on this forum, repeat everyone who has placed a deposit on an RX8. I would wait until October, November, or even later to get this car, but they need to let me know that is the expected delivery date. Don't say one thing, and do another.

I don't appreciate the nasty comment about the stain in the car. Maybe you don't understand that we have had constant rain in this area for almost a month, and a tropical storm. If inspectors are getting in and out of these vehicles to hand inspect them, it is very possible that dirt and footprints could be left in the car. To insinuate that it would be something other than this is low. Also, I don't know that these cars are covered, and thus, may be subject to the elements, which would not happen in my possession. I would have the car in the garage or covered.

I hope the cars are delivered next week. I would like for Mazda to maybe state this on its webpage. They are capable of updating this site with delivery information. I think more buyers are aware of the MazdaUSA website than this forum.

I also wanted to tell you, IBFUBAR, that I do give you a slap on the back. You have unselfishly provided many people with information that was not provided by the dealers. You did not have to spend your time providing VIN information and status. I don't believe Mazda should have put the responsibility on you to keep the forum members informed. I think all of the dealerships, nationwide, should have been responsible for getting the information to their buyers.

If I have offended you, I apologize. But I stand by my Mazda corporation comments. It is their responsibility to keep the buyers informed. I feel they have failed in this responsibility.

Thanks for the update FooBar! I'm suprised that they are checking the cars one-by-one before final destination. I would have guessed that would be done at the dealership during the final prep. just before customer delivery. Won't the train and car carriers shake rattle and roll the cars just a little? Anyway, it good to hear that they are even closer.

yes the dealers do a pre delivery inspection. but some dealers arent as thourough as others.and by doing it themself one by one in the port they can be sure that they are leaving the oport perfect. as far as drivability and stuff. the dealers will still be doing the final inspection.

Fogget the Whiners.

Foo & Bud:

You have done a great service for all of us. forget the less than 1% who are whiners and naysayers. If you consider there is now over 2400 members on this forum and less than 10 whine, that is less than 1%. That means 98+% of us are HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY and are looking forward to being in our cars in just a few days.
My only worry now is selling my '99 10 A.E. Miata by the time the 8 arrives.
Have a Greta Holiday Weekend everyone.:p :p :p

So... ibfubar, they didn't tell you when they'll be released next week? Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...??? Saying they'll be released next week without a specific date seems pretty vague. A week before release and they're still not sure exactly when they're going to let them go?

remember release is just released from the port. how long it takes to get to the dealers i do not know. i shouldve asked for an exact day, but i was just excited to hear from mazda personally telling me next week. i didnt even think of asking for a exact day. perhaps they will call me back...

Not sure how long you've been reading this forum, but its pretty much common knowledge that you should not listen to most dealers regarding delivery date - they know less than we do. (except for ibfubar200, budaman) We've been told via a press release (I think), way-back-when, that to expect 1st allocation delivery somwhere in the June, July, August range. Well, with the latest info being mid July, I'd say they kept their promise.

Anyway, big deal, we've waited this long, what's a couple more weeks, or a few more days?
