Oh dear, I'm hooked!!
Well, i've had my RX8 for 5 days now and i'm in love! I can't stop thinking about driving it and even at 2am, have to pop out ot look at her!
I have to say how mightyly impressed I am with these cars, mine is 8 years old with 50k on her and it genuinely feels brand new.
I've always liked quirky cars, (Citroen CX GTi Turbo anyone?) and this fits the bill perfectly. The build quality is great (for a Japanese car certainly), the design wonderfull and the engine sublime. I'm constantly finding little details that I like, apart from the obvious ones like the freestyle doors, things like all the little rotory motives, the puddle lights under the mirrors, the storage cubbyholes in the center consul, the handy fold down extra storage bin between the rear seats, the damped action of the passenger grab handle, the switchable instrument illumination, the supperbly intergrated sound system, the near perfect driving position, the twin illuminated sunvisors with see through sections when theyre right down, the sunglasses holder, the way the wings flow over the front wheels like some sort of classic sports car, the way it looks bang upto date despite this, the way they were brave enough to ditch the spare wheel totaly to make the car more practical and save weight and most importantly, the way it makes me feel when I drive it!
Mazda's intro to every new owner in their handbook reads,
Zoom-Zoom
All children instinctively know it
A few adults still remember it.
One unique car company refuses to outgrow it.
In grown-up language, it means the exhilaration and
Liberation that come from experiencing sheer motion.
But as usual, children put it much better and simply call it “Go Zoom-Zoom”
We practice it every day.
It’s why we build the kind of cars we do.
Zoom-Zoom.
Can we re-awaken it in you today?
Yes, you can and thank you!

Should have said 'puddle lights' that are under the door mirrors that come on when the doors are unlocked, have edited my original post to say that. Yes, standard on UK cars.
