Oil in air cleaner problem

I may have over looked this somewhere. Accept my apologies if I have.
I happen to take out my air filter today and noticed some oil, wait, alot of oil in the bottom of the filter box. It was also in the low points of the corrugated boot that connects the filter box to the engine. Then I proceeded to remove the little box that is on the side of that rubber boot. It was full of engine oil to the point of being reCOCKulous(beyond reDICKulous). I dropped the car tonight at the dealer. They couldn't look at it til monday and have no idea what it could be at the moment. Never seen that before. Puzzles me that mine is the only one?
Does anyone have a clue what is going on here? The car runs fantastic. It baffles me. The dealer says they have to make sure my extended warranty covers it as well. Its an 04 with 34k on it and they say I'm out of Mazda warranty.

That problem is well know by forum members. Do a search for oil in air filter or something like that in the Tech Section and you will find many threads that discus the problem and the cause. Basically, the problem appears to be oil entering the intake tube from a crankcase vent hose on the oil-filler pipe. Possibly caused by overfilling with oil or filling too fast. If the service rep said they've never seen that before, he is either lying or they don't have much RX-8 work. Make sure they clean the MAF/IAT sensor or you may get irratic engine performance.

Here's one link--there are many more that you will find with the proper search words.

Then after they clean it, go tothe DIY section and do the bypass. Put a filter on the end of the hose and cap off the intake.

Lesson learned....... Read the forum BEFORE talking to the dealer. I'll go pick it back up tomorrow before they get a chance to touch it on monday. Thanks.

Thanks for the help but, I have another problem. After I got the car back. Their reply for the oil was that I was filling it too fast. Fine, I have read that here. Well, when I plugged the air cleaner tubing and installed the breather on the end of the oil filler tube hose, that blew oil all over my engine and I had to put it all back together on the side of the road. Went to the car wash and cleaned the engine as well. So, I ask you...... where did I go wrong? The catch can DIY is missing. The link takes you to a message saying there is no known thread. I've already paid $89 diagnostic charge and another dealer wants $82. So, being pretty mechanically inclined, I just need to know what to do. I can do it.

Edit to add..... It ran remarkably after cleaning the MAF.
