When does that low oil light turn on?

When it gets to the low mark on the dipstick, or when it gets dangerously low beyond even that?

There is not a light for low oil level... it is a warning light that indicates low oil PRESSURE. Watch the gauge to monitor it before it gets to that point. If you are seeing that light, you've got bigger problems to worry about than what oil to use or how much to add.

No, it is a low oil light.

We have a dummy gauge that doesn't tell us until it's too late that there is low pressure.

I stand corrected.

I have not let mine get to that point. All other vehicles that I have owned, it was oil pressure.

I had to go back a re-read it (the manual). I really do hate it when I make comments that are wrong. It makes me look like a moron.

Pretty clever of Mazda to promote an oil that voids warranties.

Must save them a bundle.

People always post that picture when talking about using synthetics, but I have never seen anyone say how it compares to any regular synthetic like mobil1. There are always opinions and never facts posted. Has anyone actually had any tests done or tried to find out if it is just a repackaged synthetic from another company or was it reworked and made to be a better synthetic for the renesis by Mazda?

...regular synthetic like mobil1...
Original Mobil 1, which is supposed to be the kind that did cause problems, or current Mobil 1?

No facts or opinions in that comment...just adding the the traditional noise of a full-featured oil thread.

Good question, and I'm not sure if anyone has a straight answer for that. If there is, sorry I missed it.

My actual point for posting that pic was not for the allusion to synth or not (not going to go down that road), but viscosity choice (in this case, 0W30).....relating to the whole anti-5W20 deal etc etc.

I had similar thoughts a while back, but couldn't find a place to purchase some online. Do you know of anywhere that actively sells this stuff?

Most places don't have an issue with you watching or making suggestions. My concern is draining. I'm able to get more oil out at home by jacking up one side then the other. I've never taken an oil sample but it would seem that last amount of oil has the most contamination. Sometimes I even poor a clean quart to get a get flush. Maybe it's overkill but my last car I got over 240K and it still ran good and I'm at 125K with the 8.

i have been using a synthetic blend mobile 1 oil in mine and had no issues at all. is it impossible to go back to regular oil now? even tho it is just a "synthetic blend" instead of "full synthetic"? and also should i stick with what im doing by having the thinner oil in winter and thicker oil in summer?

Perspective owner here. I like to do my own oil changed on my vehicles. I consider it bonding time. Will I have to take the car to a shop to get an oil change so I'll have records for the warantee, or can I save the receipts for the oil and filter I bought?

mymazda.com

you don't "have" to log it there but I do just for the extra documentation, just in case.

Also make a photo copy of your cashregister receipts, they fade over time.
