Oil Changes
#26
I think it's a good policy to do every 5k
My dealer gives me free oil changes for the first two years. They specify 3750, even though they're paying for it. Brought it in at 3050 for a recall, and the service guy said "You're close enough - let's do the oil now."
...getting the oil out is one thing , getting rid of it is another...it's just easier to let the dealer do it....20 minutes and i'm out....
I'd accumulate the oil in jugs, and every couple of years take a disposal run to the county recycling station. But that requires a car whose trunk I don't mind filling with jugs of used oil.
It's going to be a scary decision when my two years of free changes are up. Just like every other time you decide to pay someone to do something you used to be able to do yourself.

I just changed my oil 2 days ago
Just drove it up to the Rhino Ramp, Jack the rear up, hold it with jack stand.
Open the Fumoto Valve, go have lunch, come back close it, replace the filter, add new oil, thats it.
My used oil pan is full .... so I just left it outside. oh yeah, might as well go drop the used oil right now.

That's always been the biggest plus of the fumoto valve...no jacking or ramps. Granted its a somewhat tight squeeze in there (even with the wheel turned all the way left) but it can easily be done if you're down on the ground with your arm stretched out.l
for those that don't know about the fumoto valve, search it out and you'll find all the info and more on it.

I opted for the K&N because I like the fact that it has the nut welded on (for easy removal if it's ever overtightened) and that it supposedly has higher flow rates compared to other filters. Also, K&N seems to be a pretty reputable company and I'd rather pay a few dollars in excess for a quality filter than a few dollars less for a filter I'm unsure about (especially considered how much we paid for our cars).

i've never been a "most expensive is always best" kinda person, but from all the ongoing arguments i've heard on here, it sounds like the top few choices are Mobil 1, K&N, and OEM.
Doesn't seem you could go wrong with any of them.
