In this day and time, I'm kind of surprised that ANY new car still has a dipstick...or that the oil can be over-filled.

I'd be happy if the dummy oil pressure gauge in the RX-8 were a real oil LEVEL gauge (like the fuel gauge). That would make the most sense. (Low oil pressure could be indicated by a light on the panel).

Sorry - too old fashioned - no problem with the ECU monitoring oil level, etc but want a dipstick. Sensors fail and not always easily detected as having failed. Plus a dipstick lets you access the oil and assess its character, etc.

Agreed - although changing to a oil level gauge is not simply adding a gauge but a different oil level sensor, etc.

Holy Thread Ressurection!!! haha.

Quick question: is it possible to hook up RB's oil pressure gizmo to the stock guage? (I'm not a fan of putting in more gauages in my NA car)

Has anyone even done this install?

damn Zoom, you're quick...

Don't think it's possible to hook it up to the stock guage or don't think anyone has bothered with this install?

Is the coolant temp guage a dummy, too??

Mine has never moved from just left of center.

sort of- it has a range of @180- 220 F in which it doesnt move. so it goes up to operating temp and then stays put unless it goes over that 220 point . then it starts to move up again.

Please..my oil pressure gauge reads full, YET my oil light is on and there is very little oil in my engine.

I don't trust the oil pressure gauge at all.

You need to return your car to the dealer.

I thought you were kidding with your post.

Oil pressure doesn't equal oil level.

Your oil pressure was fine, but you were low on oil. Did you read your user manual?

I know oil pressure doesn't equal oil level, though my previous post didn't indicate that..I can't explain my previous post..serious lack of thought there.

Everything is fine, yea..I read my manual..I always fill up the car at the right time as well. Just now it is having some issue. I'm left to drive my dsm until the business week starts. Hopefully that doesn't break down in the days I am waiting for my rotary.

Stupid tread

this tread is retarded. the rx-8 has a regulator that keeps the oil pressure stable (jus like in ferrari, maserati, some porshe, and aston martin)

If the thread is retarded, then why did you just resurrect it? It was dead and buried and bothering no one.
