Oil Pressure Gauge

So I'm new the rx8 but I do know that the oil pressure gauge is a "dummy" switch. It was about 25 degrees out today and I noticed when I started the car, it was already up to pressure instantly. Is that usual? Maybe I'm just confused...but I thought it should take some time to move.

The gauge has two readings: normal and jack squat. There's nothing in between.

The gauge variation of the viscous oil pressure may or may not inherently exceed the design purposes, except in various cases of incomplete studies where the car was started cold without having proper time to warm up to an equilibrium temp for the exhaust and headers.

I think the gauge might be purely cosmetic and doesn't read anything. The 2009s deleted it.

They actually deleted the RPM rev cluster all together, they want you to know your car by the sound it makes so you shift when you "feel" and "hear" the right moment.

it's got voice recognition. You say "5000 rpm" and the PCM will adjust the throttle accordingly.

Only if its reached 5000 rpm, because it has adaptive voice reconnaissance which checks your current RPM and if its <= your spoken RPM, it will alert you that the action cannot be performed and prompt you to either downshift or cancel command.

Sure it would. That would be the voice command for DSC.

Pretty sure that's Japanese for "Apply Braking Procedure' so the PCM should manage.

The only flaw I know of with the Voice Recognition software in the '09s is that when Mr. Roboto comes on the radio the system gets stuck in an endless praise loop which eventually causes it to forget to continue the normal oil rate causing apex seal failure and a total engine failure.

Check TSBs for more info...

I can totally fit 3 in the trunk of the 04 i have, making the extra space in the 09s rather superfluous.
