If it's a lease maybe you can get them to just give you a new car for the trouble. That way they can tinker with it all they want and you have another 8. I don't know anything about leases but maybe that's an option you can push since it's going to be another month.

So you've paid two months of your lease off and you really havent had your car for those two months. Read through your lease papers there should be something in there about this or someway to get outa the lease. As others have said might be a time to talk to a lawyer, this is just yeah I have patience to the Nth degree and I think I would of lost it by now. Be one thing if it was something you did but it seems to be mechanical failure and not your fault.

Oh also I always give this idea out since at times they actualy work. Contact your local news station "Consumer Helper" person and tell them whats going on and see if they can help ya out. Bad press is never a good thing hehe.

i asked what the CEL code was and they told me that it was randomly generating 3.

300
301
302
said something along the lines of misfire codes and they reported it to the field service engineer who said to replace the engine.

thats not cool.
Thats a whole car payment w/o the car.
when you get your **** back, make sure you let them know how much of a drag this was to you and maybe they might hook you up with some deals or something....... SOMETHING.

maybe a full tank of gas............ haha (lame)

anyway. I hope you get your car back soon and i hope its cherry. Try and get something out of it though.

a concern i have now is that since i am not paying for my rental car (Mazda is), will they try and use that against me if i try to get something, such as them paying a monthly payment (i have paid 2 since it has been in) or something?

No doubt they will say something along those lines. But the loaner/rental vehicle is supposed to something "equal" to the 8. Which means a pretty large chunk of gray area for you to wade around in. But it's still their fault the whole thing has taken this long. It's just inexcusable.

Maybe try to find out what they actually pay for the rental. It's a steep discount from what we would pay. At least have them paying the difference between your car payment & what they paid for the rental. It's all too much BS to even bother trying it on your own. At the very least you should be in contact with some sort of consumer bureau or your state AG's office (or a lawyer). No company should be able to pull that type of chit.

OK. i called them to check on the progress of my car today and they told me that the new (3rd) engine hasn't even arrived yet. so i am not liking how much longer this is really taking. i will take action to get something out of this. now my question is that what is the possibility of a Buyback from Mazda? would they do that or is there anyway to sort of put this option on the table? i honestly believe it may save them money to just give me a new car then to have this crappy dealership work on it. again, i am just trying to check all available options.

U might want to start some fire on this one. This is really ridiculously long.

If they want a loaner, they can get the car really really cheap, but has no warranty and they have to pay for their own insurance(its cheap too, cuz remember dealership insurance does NOT cover you at all, your own insurance covers the loaner right after you sign the wavier)

after that Mazda pays them 30 bucks a day for loaner. but still they should pay for your car payment because your car is out for too long. Loaner is not an excuse. Not like you want that PoS in the first place.

but what Im seeing now, its more like your stealership cant get their job done more than Mazda. You know there are lots of dealershit who just cant do anything right.

Call them Mazda everyday and whine. its not really MNAO's fault but they have to give the dealershit some pressure in order to get their *** moving

Honestly - at this point I think the question is: Do you feel like you are getting any real answers or help out of the dealership & MNAO. If you are just chasing your tail and getting nothing out of either then it's time to involve someone that can put a little more pressure on both. Since hired goons are only legal in one unholy form . . .

Option 1 - You getting the run around, and feel like you're being bent over the proverbial barrel.

Option 2 - You feel things are being handled well, explained well, and efforts are being made to make things right.

Yes to option 2 = you're understandably frustrated, and should really tell them to make your payments (or put you in an 8 while you wait) or you will get a lawyer.

Yes to option 1 = let a lawyer tell them the above options are acceptable to you.

On the one hand, though, they are fixing the car. It's just taking them an inordinately long period of time. VW diesels in the Midwest have had the same problems, I hear. I'd politely ask the manager what the delay is, and ask him for a deadline. Hold him/her to it, and get everything in writing.

ok. time to bring this thread back. mazda is at it again on my car.

So i get my car back.....finally after 7 weeks in a rental and i go to get in the car and it was just plain sickening:
1. they had to go find my other key
2. the entire center console was still loose, as in not screwed in OR snapped in, since the front panels were sticking out right under the radio
3. they lost my little felt mats that go inside the center console in the front and back (they are still trying to get me a new one for the front

so they get stuff taken care of and i get on my way.

Then about a week and a half later i get the CEL and turns out it was an EVAP code problem, and so they said it was the fact that i didn't tighten my gas cap all the way and they "tested" it and it passed after they tightened it.

Well, two days later my CEL is on again. by this time i am back in Rock Hill for Thanksgiving, so i head to Carolina Mazda to get it checked out. well.....
1. they tell me that the EVAP code is back on and that there is a leak somewhere and that also they were getting the misfire 302 code.
2. They try and tell me that my car is out of warranty (i have 54,000 miles). I tell them that the warranty was extended and they look at me like i am retarded
3. They say that none of this is covered under warranty, even though i have a brand new engine less than 600 miles old.
4. they say that it is going to be $570 to fix the problem. yeah, right.
5. Then they have the ***** to say, "well since your car has already been in the shop so long, we will not charge you for the CEL" I leave after that.

So i get in contact with Fairway Ford Mazda and they tell me that all this is warranty work, especially since i have never had these problems until AFTER the recall, and also the spark plugs a BRAND NEW, so it isn't like they are just worn out like Carolina Mazda tried to say.

I take it to Fairway Ford Mazda in Anderson and they take it in and put me in a brand new 2007 Ford Focus

I get in contact with MNAO and their regional rep gets in contact with me and asks me if it would be alright for her to have my car transported to John Finger Mazda in Greenville, and i say "sure" because i hear they are good there. so that is where i stand now. car is back in the shop and i am back in a focus.

When will it end?

Dude, i love my car, i really do. I know for a fact i wouldnt trade it for anything in its class. I know alot of other people on these forums feel the same way as i do.

Ive got to ask you the 10,000 dollar question. Will you ever buy another mazda?

You need to contact a lawyer, this is bullshit and you're getting hosed. You've already made what...three payments on a car that you isnt even in your possession? If they pull out the rental card you can tell them to get fuxed. A 2007 ford focus is by no means compatible with a mazda rx8. Besides, you signed lease papers for an RX8 not a god damn FOCUS.

Take your gloves off and start throwing some damn punches man!

Best of luck bud, i feel for you, i really do.

i know that they were going to send someone from Greenville to come pick it up.

and i love the car. i really do, and i would definately take another RX-8 any day. i will make sure i try to get my car to John Finger Mazda though if they do a good job.

I am keeping track of all my paper work so, if it really comes down to it, i will have more than enough to give a lawyer. i just don't want to resort to that if possible. but i agree, it is almost time to take the gloves off. i am about as patient a person as anyone can meet, and this is starting to test me.

i'll update as soon as i find out some more info.

if they are going to move your car to another dealer, they will do something for sure. it is in there best interest. dont bitch and moan, just ask.

my bet is that the sc dealer is a cx7 loaner dealer. all they can do is say no...

the times i have been in i have had a focus, corolla, and a mazda 6. but this was always just an overnight thing.

When you talk to the dealership about how you're unhappy with the way things have gone you should "mention" how much you like the 8 and see what kind of deal you could work on a new one.

And then the dealership calls me to tell me that they have to replace my PCM altogether. great, more time in the shop and more time in this crappy fusion.

So then today i get a call, and i am like "FINALLY I get my car back". but no. they say that they got everything in and reprogrammed but the CEL kept coming on. so they contact an engineer at Mazda and guess what, i get ANOTHER new engine. this means that i am going to be stuck in the rental for at least another week to two weeks. This is REALLY getting out of hand now. Is there anything i can do other than wait? i mean seriously, for the amount of money that Mazda is having to dish out to have my car fixed, would it not just be cheaper for them to give me a NEW car? or even just get me out of my lease? any help would be most beneficial. And if anyone has an inside source with Mazda and can help me out there, that would help also.

I WANT MY CAR BACK, or something equivalent.

btw, thanks for all the help you guys have given me so far.

Dude I hate to sound like this, but it seems that your car might be a lemon! I think you should insist on getting another RX8 instead of wanting that one back. After all this drama, Mazda should have had some common sense and offered you another 8 and put an end to this madness!
