ok i messed up my rx-8 :(

i was driving home from work 2days ago and the sun was beating on me from my drivers side window. so i flipped the sunvisor over to the side. well the whole top seam on the visor split apart..... and when i try to put it up it flops right back down in my face..... so i brough it to the dealer which was on the way and they got me an appointment on tuesday for the visor/oil change....

yesterday i hop in the car to go to work and that freakin visor is still floppin down in my face so i split it all the way down and took it apart...
thier were 2 wires in thier.... (black and red) conected by clips. i yanked em out then i tryed to turn on my radio and it wont turn on... i also cant open/close my doors from the keychain now either,...

how bad did i F my electronics up?

visor/electronics

i recall some other member having a visor problem. what do you mean by "the top seam on the visor split apart"? do u have a pic? the visor seems pretty strong construction to me. and what do you mean "i yanked them out"? did you not just disconnect the clip? did you actually perform the bone-head move as you stated? why prey tell, would you ever "yank" electronics in your brand new-vehicle?

As for the electronics, sounds like you blew a fuse.. nothing big. The wires probably touched.

Unscrew the visor and gently pull the wire out and there will be a small wire connector. Push gently down on the tongue of the connector and it will come apart. Then replace the fuse.

Will the radio turn on? How about play CDs? If it will play CDs, but not the radio, you probably ripped out your antenna (hence the door remote not working).

The two wires light up the lighted mirror that is all they do. The fuse is blown causing the other problems. Mine also broke the same way.

yeah, if you just tape off the ends so they do not touch, change the blown fuse, everything else should work again. Simple enough.

hope you didnt pull the wires out of the a pillar while you were doing all that yanking. Two screw and undoing the connector wouldnt of been hard.

i slip the sun visor in half and removed the wires that were attached to the visor by clips.... but the 1 clip snapped off by accident... guess they touched like you said.

elara= when i press the button to turn the radio/cd player on nothing happens.
i also cant open/close my car by the keychain. but everything else works

im getting it fixed this tuesday (tommorow)

thanks every1.

My drivers side sun visor also broke. It's taken the dealer over 2 weeks to get a replacement and I'm still waiting. Must be becoming a common problem.

I had my drivers side visor break in the same way. I took it to the dealer and they removed it and ordered a new one. Took about a week to get the replacement.
