I know there's a technician famous here on the north side of Phoenix for trying to void warrantys on RX8's for intakes. Chickenwafer dealt with that issue and Mazda sent out one of their regional super techs who clearly saw that the intake was not contributing to the failure. Hell, they labled his car as "heavily modified" cause of his lambo doors.

Pure nonsense...

Best bet is to put the burden on Mazda and have them show clearly in documented proof that the intake caused the failure. Sounds to me like a typical recall replacement situation combined with typical flooding. Low compression and flooding are both common occurances. If the motor floods with the stock intake, what's left to say an aftermarket intake won't do the same?

Seems like Mazda is on the losing side of this issue. We know rotary motors flood, no mistake there...we also know many motors failed due to loss of compression.

That's seriously about as retarded as a technican telling a Mazda 3 owner I know that her seatbelts were broken because of her lowering springs!?!

son, let me tell you some words of advice straight from my heart...

DO NO PUT UP WITH THIS BULLSHIT!

1)get as much solid evidence about the current condition of your car as you can, aside from the evaluation that your stealership gave you of your car (in case your dealership tries to further scheme and lie to you by presenting false information about the status of your car in court).

2) take photos, video recordings, and keep a documented journal with time and date of every minor event occurring from here on out.

3) consult with a seasoned lawyer, and inform him that you are ambitious in not only winning a monetary battle with your dealership, but a moral battle as well. tell your lawyer that you wish to press charges against the dealership for fradulent deception of it's customers and an attempt to rob you of your money through a faulty claim of your car.

4) never give up in court, be prepared to free up your schedule for all sorts of dates with court, as many as you can (even for the most minor of reasons...have them come in even if it's to just **** them off by wasting their time).

5) do not settle with just pressing charges against your mazda dealership, but go to the length of pressing charges and sueing the technicians on counts of possible conspiracy to unlawfully rob you of your warranty and to try stealing your money!

i am very experienced with the courts system, so if you are needing any additional help or advice, do not hesitate to send me a PM. i am one to stick up for the underdog and to fight for true justice in our society (unlike many of these kangaroo courts and private parties ) and i will ask for no reimbursments in my help to you! best of luck.

This thread has got me a little worried. I ordered an intake and I'm going to be installing it in a week or so. Should I be worried that when I bring my car in for its 30,000 KM service, that they'll void my warranty?

maybe. but as stated above, an intake SHOULD NOT void your warranty.

I haven't had any issues in two plus years of ownership....BUT........I do wish I had not sold my stock intake just on the outside chance of something happening. As been stated before, just change the intake back to stock if/when taking it back in. In other words...............hang onto the stock one!

of course!
as a working class man, i know the price of hard-earned money, and the resentment of seeing a major corporation betray and rob you of your money. i will go to great lengths to make sure these corrupt corporals are shut down and shut down hard at that!

lawsuits and sueing corporations for their stolen money is as common as night and day for me....sadly

just a bitter civilian, who has been taken advantage of one too many times as a youth by corporations and even our own law system (kangaroo courts...).
a civilian that has made small claims courts as familiar as a second home and visiting superior courts as leisurely and common as a walk through the park

Check my sig. My warranty was never voided but I was threatened with it several times so I just put the stocker back on and said the hell with it. Just wait until your warranty goes out then do what you want with the car.

Someone gotta tell this to the media. I mean WTH man. Toyota and Honda never have this kind of bullshit, at least not for an intake.

No wonder when it comes to Customer Service Satisfaction, Mazda ALMOST ALWAYS in the bottom of the list.

Great Neck Mazda in Long Island tried to void my whole car's warranty cuz of my intake, ******* bitches. Its funny that David told me straight in my face that "Oh, Mazda will void the whole car's warranty as soon as you have aftermarket parts ..." kiss my *** bitch. my warranty still here ahh huh ! Bitch.

I dont understand these people, if Mazda is so underpay (I assume thats the case), why even sell their cars and/or work on them ? I mean really.

this is a very interesting read....as sggested get everything in writing of what they are "assuming" was the damage to your engine. Ask to have all kinds of tests done todetermine what is the cause and state that you would be willing to pay for the testing done if and only if the results are and genuinely against you.

They can not simply void your warrenty because you have something installed if they don't know if that was the actual cause or not.

Please keep us updated with the developments of this story...because this should serve as a tool to everyone who is ever or has ever been held liable for BS excuses simply because the dealer doesn't want to live up to warrenty work.

if you are K&N filter owners.

http://www.knfilters.com/warrantyletter.htm

Read it, get some better understanding, even better print it in and shove it up the dealership's service writer's *** !

welcome to the world of car tuning and taking it to the dealership. Mazda has done the same thing to me. I am still fighting, don't expect a strait answer from anyone don't get discouraged. In my case I think they are just trying to sell me an engine cause my car still runs fine my bud's stage 2 wrx barely beats me from a dig or roll. I think if I had low compression I couldn't even hang with a justy or festiva.

so make sure they even diagnosed it correctly before your start pulling your hair out.

You think Great Neck Mazda never threatened me ? They even took pictures of my engine, nothing happen. Why ? cuz the **** they're seeing in CEL has 100% nothing to do with my intake. yeah sure SSV is part of engine, but what does Intake have to do with SSV ?

I let you know my story just because sometimes dealership said so, doesnt mean so. oh they also have close to zero clue when it comes to fixing cars. all Dealership does is to rip people off, and follow what the service manual saids.

I repeat, Dealerships people have close to zero clue when it comes to fixing cars.
