Omg Yes I Want This!!!

http://www.unitracking.com/dealersearch.html

I was searching online for a GPS tracking device for my vehicle, other than LoJack for two reasons.
- LoJack contacts your local law enforcement and notifies them where the vehicle is located. I dont want that... I'd rather they just contact me so i can recover it on my own *cracks knuckles*
- Hawaii doesnt have LoJack. LOL.

Has anyone here heard of this unitrack product or others similar to it?

Here's a brochure that gives further information on it...
http://www.unitracking.com/brochures...pplication.pdf

couldnt find a price on the website but I'll contact them. Also, I'll see if there is a discount via a group buy.

Site is being updated.

Locator systems are BS. By the time you find out the car is missing and check the locator it's too late.

If Pro's want your car it's out of the GPS range except in Hawaii, unless it's on a boat or it's already chopped.

Come out from a movie and they already had two hours, wake up in the morning and they have had several hours to chop.

This device works via cellular transmition, so even if they began chopping your car - you can still locate it since it has its own seperate power supply. Also, since LoJack isnt available here - i doubt thieves are going to start searching your car for a small box. From most of the cars i've seen here that get choppped - most of it is still intact, just certain mods, and major parts are missing.

Also, with this you can log in from your PC at anytime to monitor your vehicle.

Also, if the vehicle moves outside a certain user set range - itll notify you via a txt message to your cell phone. If the car alarm is activated or doors are opened, itll notifiy you... at which point you can log in and see whats going on.

The website looks like a 9th grader designed it... and why don't you just take your rear tire off when you go to the movies... thats what i do

But how easy is it to steal an rx8? Don't they have the chipped keys and anti-theft device? Other then towing it?

im worried most about it being stolen when im at work, and the car is at home. Tow Trucks are the Hawaii car thieves mode of choice... chipped keys wont do anything for that.

I've done a lot of work recently involving cellular triangulation. The one thing you need to keep in mind is that it is far less accurate then GPS. The more rural the area the less accurate it becomes, you can have position off as far as a mile or more from my experience.

Actually, i think what i wrote earlier was pretty vague. They do use GPS to track the vehicle. Here's a better explanation taken from their site...

There are two technologies in play with the Unitracking System. The first is the ability to track the vehicle over the internet utilizing Global Positioning Satellites. Data such Global Position, Speed Velocity and Time (PVT) are transmitted over the national Digital Cellular network back to our servers located in our secure Network Operations Center (NOC). The information transmitted from the tracking device is disseminated and stored on your private confidential account or sent to you over the wireless network. The information is available by logging into your account from an internet enable computer anywhere in the world. The data is cross referenced on a street level map for viewing. The positioning information provided is cross reference to the closest geographic address and displayed in residential / commercial address format
