OMP rate high?

OMP rate high?
Hi,
After speaking to several 8 owners I've come to believe my 8 has more-than-average soot build up in the exhaust tips. Could it be that the PO changed the OMP metering rates / is there a way for me to check?
Like for instance, if I got a hold of a MazdaEdit or VersaTuner license, would it show tables with higher numbers than stock for me to identify whether or not the rates have previously been upped?
Hope anyone can chip in!

For real? Hmm, so it could be running rich or not igniting properly? I've changed coils once, wires once, plugs twice, oil many times, and installed a AEM intake a while back but the tips have been just as black with the stock intake.. Every other intake valve works, I checked.
I do have a reoccurring CEL though, I can't remember the number but it's the one discussed here often leading people to get their ECU swapped at a dealership, while the rest of the car runs like a champ.

Do you have a picture of the soot? Are the sparkplugs also sooty or oily? What is the check engine code? I can't think of a common code that leads to ECU replacement. ECU's are almost never replaced. Do you spend a lot of time idling, making short trips or in traffic?
