Online production/delivery tracking
I pre-ordered (#5 of 7 in the first allocation at my dealership), and I haven't gotten anything from Mazda other than the blanket e-mail that went out to those in the 1st allocation about a month ago saying that they had received my order.
I expected to have some link to a web site by now where I could enter my request ID (order number.....whatever they call it) to track the production/delivery of my car. That's what my dealer told me I would be able to do, and I haven't seen or heard anything yet.
Was anybody else told this?? That was supposed to be the whole reason behind them wanting my e-mail address on the order form.
Has anybody else on here been given a link to any site where this could be tracked?
I'm wanting to try to sell my current car instead of trading it in on the RX-8, so I really want to be able to depend on this online tracking to know roughly when to expect the new car to be here. I don't want to put my car up for sale yet because my dealer claims it will be here in April (yeah....right!) and then be waiting another 2-3 months for it to arrive.
Has anybody had any experience with this sort of thing when ordering a different vehicle in the past with Mazda??
Getting anxious......

I just read some other threads where that information was relayed to some other people.
I was told by the dealer that production started on the US cars the first week in March.....but then again that was the dealership. I guess they are less enlightened about this stuff than some of us are on this forum.
Those guys must not have any idea what they are talking about then......if they haven't even started production, how is it that they claim the cars will be here in April?? Sounds a little too quick to me.
This being the case......was anybody else under the impression that we would be able to track this online (when they start)?
Anybody had this capability before with previous cars ordered from Mazda?
How detailed is the info received on this web site (if it exists)?

I can understand why they would nix the online tracking. There are a bunch of salivating rotary maniacs (myself included) that might flood them with emails asking all kinds of questions. The less we know about what's going on, the fewer questions/comments we might have.
What would really be cool is a webcam on the assembly line, with a large LED display of the VIN of the car in the image. I wonder how many of us would be constantly watching for our car to go by
