IL Opinion on the better rx8. help.

Well after searching for the right rx8 i have seem to have found the perfect one with all the options and color i wanted, but then i recently stumbled across another one. and just wanted the experts (your) opinion on which you would think is better.

First one is a 2004 brilliant black. with about around 19,500 miles. $12,999 GT. red/black leather. nav system. i have a video, but idk if i can upload that directly on here but its exactly like this one that i found online.
http://www.kevinhawk.com/rx8/index.html

This other one is a 2005 with 26,600 miles. running for $13,517. red/black leather with everything but navigation. Although i can't tell if its galaxy gray or titianium gray. here's the current live link from autotrader.
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=36949028&ct=u

Which would be the better deal? i'll post the youtube link for the black rx8 later on. Is there a significant difference between the 2004 and 2005 rx8's? Although i'd much rather prefer brilliant black. i wouldnt mind titanium gray. and the car is only 23 miles away compared to the '04 which is located in michigan. Thanks in advance.!

^ It's not Galaxy Gray, mine is Galaxy Gray and it's much darker than the 8 in those pictures.

I don't think that there is much if any difference between an '04 and an '05.

Since the '04 has fewer miles, but not by much, it's kind of a toss up. If you like Brilliant Black better that's probably the way to go. I don't think nav is a big deal, you can get an aftermarket GPS that is much better anyway.

Depends on what you want, I would go with the '04 BB myself, but I'm not you.

yeah i thought i'd be titanium gray. yeah BB was my first choice in color and titanium was my second choice with VR being the third. i'll probably end up going with the BB, just waiting for winter to be over. the owner said she might be willing to meet half way in downtown chicago so the driving distance isn't as big a factor anymore.

any more info. would be great. ^_^

By the way, I noticed that the '05 is an auto. The '04-'05 autos are quite a bit slower than the MT version. Are you looking for an auto? If you have a good reason to want an auto that's fine, but otherwise a manual is better. The auto has a lower redline and significantly less power.

yeah they're both auto's. not really going to be using it for tracking. and shifting from gear to gear around here might not be too fun. but i do agree that manual is better. i'm definately getting manual for my next rx-8. not worries xD

if they are both automatic, i would look elsewhere. anywhere you drive, a manual transmission makes for the better driving experience. once you get the auto, you'll long for the 6spd, so hold off until you find a 6spd with th eoptions you prefer.

Wait for manual. There is nothing like it. I drive manual in NYC... half of my time is spent in traffic or at red lights. Either way, i prefer it over AT.

For me, driving an Rx-8 with an automatic transmission is like playing baseball with only one arm. No offense to you AT guys...

EDIT: But if you HAVE to buy one of these then i would go with the 04. Relatively no difference. Go with the fewer miles and the black paint.

Being a NYC resident, I often have to drive through NYC to get to other places (I mainly go to LI with the RX8 twice a week and that's it). Back in fall, I would visit my ex in the Bronx and would have to go through hills and traffic lights often; driving my RX8 would become quite annoying especially since I have to pass through Manhattan. I wouldn't like to drive my RX8 as a daily driver through heavy traffic in NYC.

Anyways, back to the original topic. Yes, wait for the manual. I wouldn't go near an automatic RX8 with a ten foot pole.

If you care about style and looks....nothing else....go auto, BUT if you want the true experience that the RX8 has to offer and was built for.....6sp.

if you MUST get an auto,

i think the better advise is a newer model (06 and later) with a 6spd paddle shift transmission mated to a 6port engine.

skip the '04s and '05s from your list. they are the low-power 4port motors with more bugs, more problems, being the earlier models.oftentimes ending up in the hands of someone who is not an rotary enthusiast, when problems arise and usually sold for cheap.

just beware of the older automatic models is all i'm saying. of course, power isn't everything...so make sure if you don't get a 6port engine/6spd paddle shift, go for a very careful drive and take your time.

or simply take all of our advise... suck it up and go for a manual model.

hmm... whats the main problem with the 04 and 05's? i mean i would definately prefer a six speed, but finding a six speed auto/manual in black with red/black interior and low miles has been proven to be a challange for some months. the '04 has every option i was looking for (nav doesnt make that big of a difference) and it has low miles. so i dont know, tough decision right now.

CAn't go by that information.

You need to test drive and check for wear and tear on the car.

The two are too close to judge.

As far as driving manual is traffic is concerned, I drive my 2010 R3 edition every day from Brooklyn to Manhattan, and all over the tri state area for that matter. My last tank? 12.8 MPG. Yeah. Other than that fact, of all the manual car's I've had, this has to be one of the easiest to drive through traffic, I really find it a pleasure, and it gives me something to do rather than loose my mind while sitting in traffic.

Anyway, as far as the two cars are concerned, I agree, the BB is nicer looking IMHO, however with an RX-8 I would usually sway towards the newer ones. If you absolutely insist on an auto trans, you honestly might have fun with a 350Z or Mustang GT. If you are in love with an RX-8 and you insist on auto, you might try to find an 06 or newer with the 6SPD auto, it will be a lot better.

However, if nothing else, an 04 auto is still an RX-8, so you'll have fun. But get a manual

Exclamation

Instead of making a new thread i'll just post my question here.

So i have been in the rx8 market for awhile now. And want your opinion on which would be the better choice.

**Private Seller** (the one posted above)
2004 rx8 Brilliant black
Price: $12,999
Miles: around 20,000-21,000
red/black leather interior
Grand Touring Package with appearance package and nav.
All scheduled maintenance done.
Oil changed every 2,500-3,000 miles
Clean interior (plastic still on on the floor mats)
basically brand new

**Dealer Car**
(pictures below)
2007 rx8 Brilliant Black
Price: $13,999
MIles: 31,919
red/black leather interior
tinted windows
According to the dealer description it's a grand touring but no appearance package is visible.
It does, however, have rotary accents.

Which would be the better buy?

Definately the 07. You still have the 100k warranty, and the 07 is less likely to need it. Unless the 04 is a manual, because stick is always better :P

Where is WI is it. I live close, but if it is in the middle of the state it would make for a long drive. Willing to help if its a reasonable distance from home or work for me.
