Optimal dash cam location?

So I just got a G1W dash cam and I currently have it mounted in front of the rearview mirror (behind it from the perspective of the driver), but you can't see the gauge cluster.

Has anyone who runs a dash cam on their 8 found a good spot to place it? It has a suction cup mount so it would need to be on glass.

I just run mine in the same location as yours. I wish I could see the dash cluster superimposed over the windshield view in real time, but it is not a top priority in terms of time or money.

You could affix a monopod to the back of one of the headrests with large zip ties and mount it there between the seats. That might give you some dash cluster view.

I run one as well in the same spot you have yours. Mine is more for resolving fault in the event of a collision and not for track use, so the instrument cluster in my case is irrelevant. The cam I have includes GPS data anyway so at least speed is recorded.

That's the idea for mine as well, but being able to see the gauge cluster could be helpful in the case of a challenge with another driver's insurance company.
