options on free maintenance
i went in to mazda at my 3k mark to get a FREE oil change. i was gonna take advantage on the free maintenance. when i showed up they mentioned on their plan that they would only do the oil change at 5k miles. i just wanted to see who has used their free maintenance before the 5k mark for an oil change...and is it wise to wait? i've been procrastinating and now it's 4.5k miles :P
so now im gonna just drive it 500 more miles. inputs plz

I went in at 2K for an oil change (dealer freebie when I bought the car.) They told me it was too soon because the car comes with "break in oil", they recommended leaving it in for the full 5K. It was probably some BS line but I went with it. I had to add a quart at 3K, then got my free maintenance at 5K. I'm gonna stay on that accelerated schedule as long as maintenance is free.

You can find it elsewhere on the Forum that it's your choice to have the oil changes at 4 mo., or 5k miles, or 6 mo., or 7.5k miles (if I recall the intervals correctly). It's also documented in a Mazda bulletin to dealers. I plan to take it in at 4 months, which will put me under 5k miles.

Everyone, you have TWO options concerning oil changes. Both are found in the manual (you know that book that came with the car):
1) Schedule 1 (every 5,000 miles)
2) Schedule 2 (every 7,500 miles)
Mazda attempted to make this clear by stating that we would recieve free SCHEDULED maintencance for the length of the manufacturer's waranty (i.e. schedule 1 or schedule 2).
