Order Jan 10 Build June 23
Finally got a call from a regional sales manager. He told me my build date is June 23 with delivery expected in August. I asked why others were getting cars sooner when I order January 10, 2003, and he said something about Mazda skipping around and building cars in no particular order. There's nothing he can do about it. He then apologized and danced around a bit.
I expressed my disatisfaction about the lack of communication and now being so late in building (even though I gave them money on January 10!!!!). He said there was a big meeting tomorrow morning with the "bigwigs" and he would pass my concerns along.
I'm on the verge of bailing on this whole thing and getting a Z.

Umm sounds like he registered you in the second pre-order group instead of the first. I think most if not all of the first group have their cars already built. He is probably correct about not being able to do anything about it now though.

Sounds as if your dealer somehow made a mistake, possibly didn't put your order in until much later?
LesPaul, have you had an opportunity to ask "fubar" to run your VIN#? I have never seen a VIN higher than mine nor with a build date later than 6/5.
Since my car hasn't been placed in the first boat shipment, I hope to be on the second. Note sure when it should arrive, possibly late July?
Anyway, it does seem your dealer mis-stepped somewhere, I didn't make my order until May 5th. My dealer placed me in an earlier request dated February. I made significant changes to the order, such as, color, adding GT and other option packages. I don't see any good excuse for your dealer's response, considering you pre-ordered since early January. Something just doesn't seem right.
Did you ever receive a "Vehicle Request Print" or "Vehicle Request Change" from your dealer? These should be documents with info on your car that a dealer should be able to pull up and print. They get this info from a website called "portal.mazdausa.com".
Sorry to hear about your situation.

I have my fingers crossed that the next boat will leave this week. That will put my car 2 weeks behind the other. The upside is my dealer will get that car and let people see tough drive (including sales guys going for a spin). Then when mine comes in the trill will be gone and nobody will mess with it, at least that is what I am hoping for.
Course the other possibility is that the gray (one of the last to make the boat) will be one of the last to get port installed added to. Then they may decide to hold it a week and make one load since my red should be one of the first on the boat.
Its a wait and see game now

Thanks for the support and advice.
BrotherVooDoo, I have no VIN to run. The regional guy promised one later in the week. I did get The Book a few weeks back, or I would think my order never made it in at all.
Digisan, the regional guy promised to "make it right" with some goodies later. I'll see if he lives up to that promise. He also said he was going to check with other dealers to try to grab a car when they hit US soil. No promises, but at least he is going to try.

Sounds like you got the short end of the stick.
How far of a drive is Long Island. Shelleymeister is giving up her pre-order and she is in the first allocation.
She has a Red GT with all the trimmings......

Thanks for the tip Rooster, but I gotta have Brilliant Black. Although my dealer, and the regional sales manager are admitting no fault in screwing up my order, they claim to be searching for a Brilliand Black Touring Package from other dealers with cars on the boat. We'll see. (I checked on a Crossfire, but they are not due until August or September.)

I understand, there is nothing more beautiful than a black sports car. If they weren't such a bitch to keep clean, I would have gone that route.
CrossFire is nice, but two seats, takes it out of the running for me.
Good Luck
