Ordered June 2003, brought it home August 4, 2004!!!

Okay, it didn't take that long for my car to get here. I had to cancel my original order in November, and had to buy an Audi A4 because my boss said we were all to have 4 door cars to haul clients around in. Great car, but just not my taste. But now I'm switching jobs and can drive anything I want so I made a mad dash to the Mazda dealer to trade in the Audi. I went back to the dealer I had ordered thru because they had been so nice to deal with. In doing the deal, it turned out that they weren't giving crap on my trade. I knew I would be upside down but what they were saying was laughable. They said my local Audi dealer wouldn't even bid on the car, so I needed to come up w/ some big time cash. So I went to the Audi dealer to talk to them about why they would have no interest in their own car that was only 9 months old. I found out my Mazda dealer was lying to me. Audi was dying to have the car and had bid a lot more money on it than what the Mazda dealer was telling me.....Scumbags!! So not only did they lose a sell on a loaded RX-8, but now I plan to tell everyone what I think of them, and I had already sent 3 buyers to them. I really hate to be looked in the eyes and lied to! Anyway, the Audi guys, who are great, sent me to another dealer (Ingram Park Auto Center) and had me ask for the General Manager, and from then on I was treated like royalty. They were fantastic, gave me great deal with no hassle at all. If you're buying in San Antonio, go to IPAC!!

The ironic thing is they had just taken delivery on the exact car I had ordered last year. It's a carbon copy, and they had had it for 2 days. It had 21 miles on it and now it's mine, all mine!!! I had actually seen it on the truck at the other dealer when it came in. Wish I had my camera.

So my 14 month journey of wanting an RX-8 has finally come to an end. Here are the details: Sunlight Silver GT, with red and black leather, appearance package, rear spoiler, w/ the navigation system.

Yes, I will be posting tons of pics and soon as I get a chance to take it to some good ones.

If there's anyone in or around San Antonio, and you want some advice on dealers and salesmen, please feel free to send me a private message. I've learned a lot!

Yeeeeeeeeeehhhaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

No he wasn't, but that's what he's like. That's why I found another job and plan to fire him next week. :D

If he was dictating what car you HAVE to own then that is a legal tax writeoff as a business expense or required professional equipment used in the performance of your profession. All of which is deductible from your taxes.

No I meant I was firing him as my boss. Just a little joke about the fact that I was going to quit working here.

Yeah, I finally made it. Your car's looking nice. I ordered clear corners, but I think that will be the extent of it.

Great story, it's amazing the effect this car has on people. Most of the time we would probably be on to the next latest/greatest thing out there on the road, but RX-8 fever seems to stick with you. Congrats

Congrats on your new 8!
I sympathize with you and other Mazda owners. I've had a Mazda since '88. Like the cars.... good designs, performance, and value ect. "Dealers are another issue." Lived in three states, bought 3 Mazdas and my wife had a MX-6 when we met. Unfortunately, only about half of the dealers we have purchased from or used for service have had good sales and service. '88 bought in Roanoke Va. great local dealer at the time. Moved across the state. dealers in the Newport News/Hampton area didn't have to earn business and it showed in their service. Richmond good at the time. Later, I replaced a Pontiac 6000STE with a Millennia S in Chicago. Great Dealer -Liberty- Moved back East to Md. The dealer on RT 40 had poor service for my 7, S, and quoted 3k over price at Rich Morton where I purchased my 8. So far they have had the best service of all the Mazda Dealers we have worked with.
Like your choice of leather ... really makes the interior

OK I'm a bit confused, I stumbled upon your old post when searching for SA dealerships -

I went with them because they are so professional and didn't try any of the cheesey sales talk. If you go, ask for Ray Bazo (sp?), he's a good low key guy. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with the way I've been treated at North Park.

Legend Mazda was very nice also, but they didn't want to let me order one. World Car was also nice, and they have that 10yr warranty, but they're nowhere close to where I live.

As for negotiating, I really don't know. I didn't try to haggle. I just want my car!!

Good luck with the purchase, keep us posted.
Wondering what changed your mind about IPAC :D
Legend didn't seem to thrilled to order mine either, but I knew what I wanted and they didn't have it on the lot at the time.

I have yet to take mine in for any servicing yet, but the time is getting close. I'm wondering which place is best for getting TSB stuff done like the A/C fix, console buttons ect.

RX-Hawk, great find on my previous post. Yes, back then I hated IPAC and loved North Park. After having bought, my feelings are completely the opposite. When it came time to get serious, one dealer stepped up and the other one didn't even try to do anything but make a buck. My Audi guys sent me to IPAC and told me who to talk to.
