overworked?

im flying over to miami next week tuesday where i'll be purchasing my rx-8! finally. the thing is
i live in houston and ill be driving the rx-8 back ! its roughly about
1200 miles or so....
- im kinda worried about making this drive, but the though of a road trip is exhilarating!

- could it be im worrying just too much, or should i rethink this ?

- oh yes, the reason WHY im not getting the rx-8 here in houston is because my aunt is "buying" it for me as a present yada yada.

Nice!

You should be fine, in fact it sounds like a great first trip!

Don't worry about it, the car should be fine. Just observe the breakin rules for the first half of your trip. BTW, nice gift. I also would consider an unscheduled oil change after the trip home, but that is just me.

And get your aunt a lot of nice flowers. And give her the keys to the car when you get home. She will love you for it. I don't think she will drive it, but it will make her feel good for you to give her the keys and tell her to spin it up.
I give my keys to to any of my friends who ask. The worst that can happen is I get a new 8, this time with the Nav system.

that sounds like a great way to break in the car, i had to go on a business trip theweek after i got it, and it was just a matter of varying speed and letting the engine work at different loads, its a lot of fun, and it really makes the longer trips seem shorter, (maybe they actually are shorter, ive found myself not paying attention to speed all of a sudden to notice im going 90 lol)...enjoy it, that 1200 miles is going to be cake with lots of icing

You're fixin' to find out how BIG of a state Florida is. I'd try and break the trip into 2 days - maybe stop around Gainesville or Tallahassee. Pensacola if you really want to hit it the first day.

I'll drive it back to Houston for you, but I'll park it in my garage.

I think the dude can afford the gas if he didn't have to pay for the car. Roughly $30k worth of gas (1,400 miles)!

Make sure you don't use cruise control and make sure to vary your speeds while driving.

You look like that and you drive a Supra? and you are getting an 8? The only thing that could make me like you more is if you can drive a manual well--I am hoping. I am 31 and married, so I am not hitting on you, but I always kid that if I was out there dating again, one of the prerequisites for serious dating would be that the young lady would have to be able to drive a stick.

hehe, my prerequirment is abit less. they only need to know how to park and reverse properly.... i know my sister can't, she ruined my civic on day 1 (the first 5 mins that i let her drive, she stuck the nose into the garage wall) so glad i didnt let her drive my 8.
