i've read where some say it costs more to own a sports car like the RX-8 than it does a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. my question is twofold then:

First, what are the typical expenses i would encounter with the RX-8 during the warranty period, if any? tires, oil changes, little things that could happen like a busted headlight, etc, etc, i am aware of.

Second, after the warranty has expired, what are the things RX-8 owners typically find themselves needing to fix/repair?

As far as during the warranty, oil changes, tires and the occasional quart of oil has been my only necessary out-of-pocket expenses. As far as tires the stock Potenzas that came with mine (which were a summer tire) lasted only about 10-15k miles maybe, the all-seasons I changed to seem to be lasting much longer. At 37k miles the original brake pads are still good. So as far as what you would be unaware of - nothing for me.
