p.o.'d about scratches
Picked up my 05 last week and had some small scratch issues that the dealer took care of yestderday with a bit of wet sanding. Well tonight I washed and waxed the car and found several more. Although they are small and most would not be irratated it really upsets me....Now I have to look like an idiot and call the dealer back to have the rest taken off. I think the dealer wll prob. tell me that I am just too ****.

When I bought my '04, I couldn't find one on the lot without tiny scratches or chips. I picked the one with the least amount and the dealership took care of the rest. They didn't give me any problems. Tell them if they dont fix it you will rip them on their survey.

thx all. I'm am sure they will take care of it.. they also had to order the small plastic piece that surrounds the driver side muffler. It had some small scrape marks on it from when it was transported. To my surprise the thing is only fifty bucks. I think all these things with mine and most all cars happen when the car is transported from Japan to the boat to the lot.

I can understand your angst. Mine is almost a year old, and just the other day I caught a rock in the middle of the rotor emblem on the hood. I saw it coming and it hit once then skipped once. I have 2 crappy looking chips in the paint, and I am not very happy about it. Hopefully, your dealer will come through.

Well, be prepared to get even more upset, unless you don't drive it. Scratches bother me too, but the reality is, the car will get more as time passes on, unless it's your occasional sunday car that you religiously devote your life to preventing scratches from occuring, and take ever step necessary in avoiding them. For me, this is the bad thing about buying a new car. You have to watch it get old, and it's never gonna be the same as when new. If it makes you feel better having every single flaw removed, then there's nothing wrong with being ****. However, just be prepared that these things are gonna happen down road as car gets older. Good luck!!

You didn't say where the scratches are but on a newly delivered car they might not be scratches. The plastic sheets that they use to cover the car when it is shipped leaves a residue. Even after a couple of washings, it can still be sticky enough to attract dirt, typically along the former edges of the sheets. After 2 washings I thought that my car had a scratch almost straight across the hood. A quick wipe with tar remover and no more scratch.

Serioiusly? They seem to take this survey thing seriously... but then again, when I bought my Jeep the dealership was the same - and once you filled out the survey ... no one gave a rats behind about you anymore...
Thoughts?

I dont know about all dealerships but when I bought my 8 the saleswoman asked me 100 times to give her all 10's. She said they are affected on how they score. I filled out a good survey because I was happy. But she did end up seeing it because she knew what I had wrote. I sent mine to Mazda not the dealership so they must post it somewhere.
