Package Weight
#8
Sunroof adds weight, NAV adds weight, spare tire adds weight, appearance packages add weight (spoiler, skirts, etc), leather & power seats add weight.....I can't think of anything you can order from the factory that actually saves weight. You can do it yourself by buying lighter aftermarket rims (although, from prior exp, Mazda usually has VERY light rims), stipping the interior (for racing), etc. If you don't need it when racing, leave the tank low....fuel adds weight. Dropping a few pounds from the old gut helps too, and that's the part we have the most control over ;-)

I have the sport package, plus the spare tire option, including the tire itself. I think I'm going to remove and sell the spare tire package because it takes up half my trunk. Anyway, I intend to weigh my car pretty soon with a full tank, at a government certified truck stop, and I'll post the results. I'm hoping it's not much over 3,000 pounds.

You get the sunroof when you add the touring package... so you can keep the cloth seats, and have a package to add a bit more.
Touring is sport + bose, moonroof, dimming mirror with himelink.
It's when you get the GT package that you add leather, but this one includes sport and touring options.
I got the sport package. Leather is a bizzo in the desert where the summers are 120 degrees.
There is another post here where someone weighed a sport package and it was just a few clicks over 2900 lbs.
