Paddle shifting - RPMs

I ram starting to get into paddle shifting on my RX-8 automatic. Any idea's where optimun RPM's should be when paddling(shifting) thru different gears.

Optimum rpms for what? Acceleration? then shift at redline. For maximum fuel economy? shift at 2500 or 3000 rpm.
