Paint Chip

After washing my 8 today I noticed that there is a small chip off the paint on the driver's side handle

Is there a decent way to touch this up at all?

Same thing happened to me yesterday, but mine was right on the bottom of the hood. Nice chip right down to the primer. A friend told me to go and by some stick from turtlewax that fills in the hole and then you cover it with blue polish.

I already bought touchup paint and tried to fill it in with a tooth pick. Looks like ****. I don't know anything about the turtle wax stick

It may take several coats of touch-up paint, followed by mild sanding to make the mark invisible. A touch-up kit can be purchased at any auto parts store which will include everything you need, except the matching paint. Just take your time and be very detailed orientated.

Exactly...

Since I would remember if I dinged the door when I opened it I have a feeling some schmuck in an SUV wasn't careful when he parked and got out beside my car...

Oh well, thanks for the info

I would take a paint chip on the door handle before a ding in the sheet metal any day. I HATE dings!.

Speaking of dings. I recieved my first ding on my hood yesterday. It is very small and not noticeable by those who try to look for it. I can see it very easily. This was from an acorn. I was under an oak tree and squirrels were apparently hard at work. A large green (heavy) acorn fell and dinged my hood. The hood while being very light, is also very prone to damage.
I know an excellent paintless dent repair shop. Its a single man operation. He has been doing this for 11 years and he is awesome. He repaired a couple dents in my 2000 Black Solara...it was outstanding.

I have an appt. for 1130 tomorrow morning. I will take pictures of the process (if he lets me) and post them here.
BTW when I told him it was an aluminum panel he kind of sighed. I asked if there was more of a challenge repairing aluminum and he said there was. He told me its difficult to work with because it has less of a "memory" than sheet steel. I really dont think he realizes how minor the ding is and it will take him a good 20 seconds to find it....even then its hard to keep your eye on it.

Sorry for highjacking the thread that is for rock chips....not dings. Back to topic.

dont park under Oak trees in the Fall

Or, see if you can work something out for the dealer to do it for you...

Here's an old trick I 've been using for years that's cheap and very effective. Nail polish. Easy to apply, dries fast, huge assortment of colors to choose from, and if you don't like the way it looks when it's dry it comes right off with nail polish remover.

Sounds like a great idea if it works. I just wouldn't want to be the one looking through all the nail polish. I'd have to send my wife
