Paint repair result - swirl marks?

After a dealership repair, there are swirl marks covering a large portion of the vehicle. Minor imperfections are present as well, such as one or two foreign particles trapped underneath the paint (like small splinters underneath your skin). However, I am most concerned about the swirl marks.

Here are the damages before repair:

scratch and dent, exposing metal

scratch, exposing primer

scratch, plastic bumper

bumper guard

Here are the swirl damages after repair:

The red area marks the visible swirl area, as not all shows up in photo.

I was expecting a better job than this. This is new territory for me, and I will have to make some phone calls before taking action. However, any members here who know a bit about paint and repair, I would appreciate it if they shared their thoughts & knowledge.

happened to me as well....take it back, they are going to have to buff it down with a buffer. When done, make sure you get a few coat of wax over it. That should come off. Just remember, the swirl marks are not within the paint, it's the clear coat shot over it that causes the swirls...

Here's a link to my crash pix.. :

That looks terrible.

Looks like the guy didn't know how to use the rotary buffer at all.

Definetly take it back, that "repair" is inexcusable.

Okay then. Now, there's approx. 4 small spots that look "rough" like there's not enough paint to cover, should I complain about that as well? It looks like when you spray paint a plastic helmet, and the areas that don't have enough paint are still rough. I'm worried that if it involves another repaint it may end up looking worse, so I'm not sure if I should say anything to them. Or about the dust and strange contaminants trapped under the paint.

I originally tried to get the car into the specialty shop that does the Porsche dealership, but they were booked for weeks, and by that time I might not even be in the US.

Thanks all.

Take it back quick, that isn't close to being right. You don't want to give them any more time to say it was something you did. I might even drive by another paint shop to see if you can get a professional second opinion so if they give you a run around... you might have a little bit to go on. A **** poor paint job will continue to look worse... learned my lesson years ago.

It could be just a little hazing from the buffing, another buff could do it right. Same thing happened to me when I had my other painted, it was a little cold and I saw it a day after leaving the shop, took an hour to rebuff it and came out perfect.

yea i'd say it's just wax swirls. of course you should take it back to get it done right, but it doesn' t look like your paint or clearcoat is affected. if anything, you can always wash it with dawn dishwashing detergent to get all the wax off it, and detail it urself. zaino it!

Looks amateurish. I don't think it's the wax. I've seen some bodyshops overbuff paint before. They may have been using a buffing compound to blend the paint, but it requires a delicate touch. Heavy handed buffing will burn the paint and leave traces similar to the one's on your car. I'd take it back and complain.

ding ding! if it happens again. dont ever go back to the dealer again for a wax, wash, etc etc other than repairs. someone didnt know how to use a rotary buffer at all for sure. it can be easily removed by a PC 7424 or a makita rotary buffer. but go back to the dealer and complain first
