I'm going to have to ask mine. I know my insurance went up a bit from my 2004 VW GTI 1.8t. I don't think they're calling it a 4 door though.

my insurance company sees it as a 4 door car with a 1.3L engine, so my insurance rate is LOWER than my old 1988 ford mustang convertable 4 banger that only has 89 hp.

To give you an idea, I pay the exact same for full coverage on my brand new 2004 RX-8 as I do for liability only on my old mustang.

Go figure.

What company?

american express auto insurance.

I was paying around $600/6mo with AIG direct for their bare minimal coverage, liability only, with one car (the mustang)

I switched to Amex insurance, I'm paying about $680/6mo for two cars, with 300k stacked coverage, coverage to the hilt. I carry liability only on the mustang (since it's a POS), and full coverage on the RX-8, with their lowest deductable ($250).
