I don't think an 05 can, but I know an 04 can do some smokey burnouts. lol

To tell you the turth, most autos can do better burnouts then sticks because you can use the brake to keep the car from moving.

um... i believe you can 'peel out' with ANY CAR. Unless you had a '87 chevy sprint (3 cylinder, 1.0L), those are pretty nifty but no power. haha. anyways...

In this case, for a AT rx8, simply press down the brake and step on the gas.... when you wanna go, just release the brake, and press the gas more. Simple as that.

This is a quick way to ruin a transmission or differential. Not to mention expensive tires. I don't think the stock components stand up to this kind of abuse. Your dad's old Buick would handle this better than the RX-8 would. You must not have paid for the car yourself I think.

Don't forget to turn DSC off all the way, or you won't get much tire smoke, just the bad kind of smoke...

If you want to power brake an automatic and burn the hell out of the transmission go for it, just to let you know that the mechanics will be able to tell exactly what you did to it without any doubt in their mind.

LOL--you could do a neutral drop as well as power braking. You'll get a nice launch and burnout. Not only is this the quickest way to accelerate the A/T its also the quickest way to ruin the tranny.

Because the mullet bearing friends hollared yes I said hollared "Do a burnout", and that time he pretended to not hear them, thinking better than to try it and not be able to...

Came here to find out how so the Mullets will be impressed next time.

ok hot shot... read my freakin' post again. I said 04 the first time, 05 the second. It was a joke. And yes, autos do better burnouts because you can hold your foot on the brake.

geez

you can do it on a manual too, it just takes more foot work. so it should be said, autos do easier burnouts. (and i caught on that you were joking )

No, they can do them better. Here is why, in an auto you can put your foot on the brake and sit there smoking your tires all day long. In a manual, you can't do that because one, most people only have two feet so you can't keep the car from moving. At some point the car will get traction and take off. And second, the car would very likely stall.

Lol. I asked because if they were there, the following comment would be redundant.

Ok everyone, simmer down. It can be done on a manual, it's just that it's a little harder. This is done with a manual 6 speed too by the way. Click here.

I understand what you're saying. It doesn't make sense to me though. The pictures I posted show how you can put on foot on the gas and one on the brake sit there smoking your tires all day long with a manual transmission. It's pretty easy to do.
