How would you keep the car from stalling when you moved your left foot to the brake?

If you look at the ground you can see he had to wet the tires to do it. Second, he could not keep the car from moving, which is why he could not do it forever. In an auto he could have done that until the tires were gone without ever moving an inch.

I think you have to think outside the box for a second. It's not rocket science to have either your: right foot on the gas and brake/ left foot on the clutch and brake.

That is where you are wrong. As long as the tires in the back continue to spin, the car will not stall...even if the car isn't moving. You can apply just enough brake to keep the car from moving forward, yet not stop the engine from spinning the back tires.

rev the engine, pop the clutch, floor the throttle and get on the brakes

an auto is going to creep too, unless you disconnect the rear brakes or have an adjustable front/rear bias.

If you got on the brakes too hard, wouldn't you still stall it? In an auto have a torque converter that prevents it from stalling no matter how hard you push the brakes.

If you get on the brakes too hard, it will prevent the engine from turning the rear tires and you will stall the car. It is not easy to get it just right. I've seen videos of cars with auto transmission that stall the car when it spins out.

not if you can correct quickly enough. and if you stood on the brakes and the throttle at the same time in an auto, something is going to give. which ever type of tranny, you have to constantly adjust the amount of brakes to keep the engine from bogging down (which will end the burnout).

oh, and my theory on the water in the video, is so that they could have a gentler start to keep from thrashing the transmission. the water was only a little line at the beginning.

This thread makes me sick... but at the same time laugh...

let me say this...

yes you can do burnouts that don't move in a manual tranny car... i've done it a lot with my 300zx tt.. gas really hard.. drop clutch and hit brakes really fast.. just enough to hold your car still..... tires that are burning out do not have much friction at all.... thats why you drag racers are slower if they smoke their tires a lot...

auto is easier in the methodology...brake...push on gas really hard... but it would also be harder to get your tires lit up since you're already braking..... and its really bad to drop from high revs in neutral to drive....
