My engine is getting replaced at almost 70K and I haven't heard of any 3K costs. I think bsinacann got a poor dealer. My dealer checked the cat and it was OK, so I'm not getting a new cat.

I purchased new spark plugs for it and spark plug wires (could've paid dealer price for plugs, probably over $200, but I paid $83 at Advance Auto Parts instead). I haven't gotten the final bill yet, but I wasn't told about any heavy costs. I'm sure I'll have to pay for coolant, oil and filter, but that's expected and not heavy at all.

The reman engine comes as a long block, it takes about a day to swap. They reuse all the stock components.

Also, my dealer did not charge me anything for the diagnostic, as the work is covered under warranty and they noticed something wrong.

SO basically, if your dealer is decent, you should have no problems.

OP. What you need is a CF card reader that doubles up as a car.

be sure to get a newer rotary, some of the pre-1972 models had problems with the seal failure you mention. im pretty sure all of the rx8s are younger than 35 years old.

just wanted to say that i have an 04 rx8 with 58,000 miles, and no problems, i had 3 recalls done on it, even before the recalls i had no problems, i have the oil changed every 3000 miles and keep up with the scheduled maintence. the only complaint i have about this car is that the fuel it consumes is rediculous. But thats the price you pay to drive a hot car like this one. And another thing, you can be sure it is the best looking sports car out there, its in a class all its own..even the super expensive sports cars dont have such a dynamic exterior design as this one.. in my opinion anyway. Im sure there is somebody somewhere out there thats going to disagree... but i dont care.... i am a die-hard 8 lover so id say those people are just hatin on my 8 cuz they dont have one.
