Petrol consumption

It's not that far off. Do a search but I can tell you that for each 1/4 tank on the fuel gauge, you will get about 50 miles. From full, I will get about 50 miles for each quarter down to about a half a tank, then it appears to get a little better as I get to the 1/4 mark......probably like 60 miles. The light comes on with about 30 miles or so to go and if I let it get to the empty line, I get about 240 total miles. I need to check this again, but that's close. I think your light will come on and you will have as much as 30-40 miles or more left before you run out, so that puts you at over 200 miles on a tank. So that's about 16-17 miles to the gallon, I see better than that(about 18mpg or better), but it will depend on how new your car is and how much you get on it, and how you actually drive it at other times! I redline 4 times a day in 2nd and 3rd and still maintain 18mpg, I'd be better if on highway.

I'm making a trip up to the Arlington, VA. area in a couple of weeks and am considering driving just for the hell of it, so maybe I get the chance to find out. If anyone sees a Ti-gray on I-95 with the driver passed out on the side of the road, that will be me and I hit 300 on a tank!

Hi Ollie:
Unfortunately, yes, that's pretty normal. This car really punishes spirited driving and urban driving - even "gentle" urban driving. My car gets about 85% urban/suburban driving, and averages about 17 mpg, or just under 200 miles until the warning light comes on.
Your fuel prices are full on nasty! We've been having a price drop here - just paid $3.19/gallon for premium, which is the lowest I've seen it since May. But with taht hurricane coming to the Gulf of Mexico, I'm thinking we'll see a spike in gas prices within a week.

My fuel light comes on at an irritating 3/4-tank-empty mark, but I usually get 260 miles out of 13.8 gallons roughly 18-19 mpg in the city. I got 330 miles on the highway at 75 mph! (almost 24 mpg).

Actually, so does mine - my litmus test of whether I'm doing 93 or 87 is "am I going to burn this going steady on the highway, or revving and zipping around rural and urban."
No big driving plans for the next week, so 93 it is. On road trips, with steady-state cruising, it's nothing but 87 in there.
And truth be told, there is absolutely NO performance difference that I can observe in driving on 87 versus 93.
