Pics of Painted gills and rear difuser

KY_LIQUID...

here are the pics of my paint work...takes some time but IMO it was worth it...like I was saying I am big fan of the screen look from the F355 Ferrari and the Aston Martin DB9 race car , so here they are...was fun doing it!

Thumbs up

Papa:

I'm liking the painted rear difuser. Wish I could paint mine a different color but I have a BB 8. I also like the painted silver look for the rear mesh on the difuser.

Nice work papa! I bet the rotary accents would look nice with the faux silver mesh in back.

I really like that rear diffuser, did you do all that by hand, or did you mask it all off. either way, you have a ton of patience.

NVMYGT....I grew up in pittsburgh!! I lived in Upper Saint Clair! over thanksgiving I could have done it for ya I was there

I did not mask it off, I used a thin liner brush, all by hand and aluminum paint,,and few swear words LOL but just took my time, I used to do allot of artwork but got away from it when the "real world came" and I had to see that you need real work to buy toys

Hey Papapump51, good work!

You musta read my mind somewhere along the line. Here's pics from way back March 04. I found that a foam brush dipped in the paint quickly brushed over the ridges and make quick work of most of it, just had to fill in a few corners with a brush. might be a 10 min job per coat.

I used a surface prep coat, two finish coats, and a clear coat and it's still as good as new after 2 yrs.

Exactly. These are just plastic paint stuff. here's a better pic.

Left to right - Primer - clear stuff to make the paint adhere better to plastic; silver paint, Sealant clear coat

From: United Kingdom, for now
May as well do the rotary accent locations with the paint as well. I did mine when I did my "mesh," and from standing distance if you can't tell it's not the real thing (unless you know better). I also did the front one; doesn't hold up well to road debris; have to touch it up couple times a year. I used testors silver and a small foam brush that only painted the outer part of the mesh, not the sides of each bar. 10 min job.
