Pix plus snow story
old hag
new trophy wife
interior
A sudden snow storm hit this past Friday, and I tried to drive on barely plowed roads (4-7 in of snow) and no salt or sand. Bad idea. I drove at a 45 degree angle for about a block, made a left and spun around 180. I called into work and took a vacation day, but now I have experience drifting.

i would like to personally congratulate you in taking your RWD sports car out for a drive in 4-7 inches of snow.
personally, i lean more towards taking a drive when there's plenty of black ice on the roads...but thats just me.
hey heres a sweet idea!!!
next time you should try pulling some 180's around poles and such... for sport you know!

Although snow tires are a must, there are days that nothing will move including four wheel drive trucks in low range. It could have been one of those days.

Nice pics Your new red-headed trophy wife is hot.
I get around just fine on all-seasons. Being form snowless east Texas I struggled a little at first last winter after moving to Colorado (3 blizzards within the first 3 months of moving to Colorado) but after gaining much needed snow/ice sleet driving experience I really have no problems any more. I actually look for an excuse to go places in the snow on weekends now. Low speed drifting is a blast.

Congrats on the new car, I'm starting my 2nd week of ownership with my car. Would have liked the two tone interior but I bought used so I have what I have. Borrowed the wife's MDX the last storm, will buy an extra set of rims and snow tires for next year.
Good luck with the new ride - Enjoy!!!

I drove last winter on my stock Bridgestones. Or should I say, survived last winter.
This year I bought some Pirreli SnowSport 240's. Schhwing. Problem solved.
Blizzaks, hankooks or dunlops owuld work. Blizzak is a LOT of snow tire tho. It doesn't snow that much here in DC, so I needed more of a road tire compound.

I remember one time I was stuck in the snow and could not even move an inch
I was eating out at a restaurant 10 minutes away from home and then a snow storm began...I had about 12,000 miles on stock potenzas...I guess I left about 15 minutes too late and the snow was too much for the 8
I did a 180 on a major road and spun tires so much until the ecu did not allow the tires to move...I had to shut off the car and turn it back on...I ended up rolling the car into a parking spot nearby and picked up the car at the end of the weekend
I just garage it now whenever there is more than 3 inches or so out...it is not worth the headache

Or you could move to Madison, WI, where we've had about 80 inches of snow this season and it's snowed an average 2 out of every 3 days. Don't even bother giving me that "we get snow in the mountains" crap.
The only thing that bothers me about winter driving is other drivers (bad drivers only drive worse in adverse conditions) and the copious amounts of salt and sand applied to the roads. My Escort is an insurance policy that will extend the life and looks of my 8.
Anyway, grats on the new car, I can still remember how jazzed I was when I first got mine last year. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

or you could try to stop being a vagina and just be a man about the whole situation and go out there and drive/enjoy your rx-8!
