planning on getting the oil pan replaced? A tip

When I went to my dealer about that oil pan thing, I told them that I had gotten a CEL when driving "fast" for "a while" - actually once a CEL (yellow) and once a low-on-oil light (red).

When I picked up the car they confirmed those lights, on the invoice it says:

[..]
verified low oil light came on between 4500 and 4800 RPM 80 MPH.
Traced to faulty Oil Pan
[..]

The black box records it all. The service writer guy said that another customer voided his warranty by taking his Mazda B2000(?) truck over 100 mph. He pretended to not hear my question how I could reset this recorder, just told me that driving over 100 mph won't void the warranty of the RX-8.

Still disturbing, or?

Oh, my "tip" was not to tell the dealer that you got a CEL to justify a new oil pan unless you really got that CEL. You cannot make things up, they'll just look in that black box.
