Plant fire raising prices?
#2
It's possible, I guess. Where I'm at, there is a Chevy SS for sale with a $12,000 "regional markup fee". The dealers can pretty much charge whatever the hell they want as long as the demand calls for it. I personally don't see any major changes unless the fire halts production for an extremely long time.

According to last weeks AutoWeek, production of RX8 will not resume any time soon. The factory said the end of March would be the earliest that production can resume. Dealers with inventory will definitely be seeing dollar signs.

up around where I live there are plenty of 04' left and they are still offering way below MSRP to get rid of them. Had a dealer trying to do everything and anything to sell me one. IMO i don't think they will be raising the prices up much or at all due to the factory not going to be out of production for that long. They were pretty quick to get the one on fire in production for the other vehicle I forget the name so I don't think it will be that long till they start producing more 8's. Like I said there are still tons on 04's left on the lots not to mention the 05'..

Plenty of Supply Right Now
As of Dec 31, there was a 128 day supply of RX-8s out there. This is higher than most producers would consider normal. Contrast that with less than 30 days supply for hot cars like the Mustang and the Chrysler 300. Just purchased a GT at a very good price so clearly there is no shortage, yet......
