Plastic around exhaust

Plastic around exhaust
I was washing my car today and I noticed the plastic around exhaust is warping. I only have 3k miles and stock exhaust. Seems odd that this is happening so soon. I don't drive the car hard for long periods of times and I am never driving more then 45 mins at time. I can't believe that they didnt think about this when they made the car. They should have made the exhaust finishers standard then.
Does anyone know if this is covered under warranty?

Thanks for the input. I am going to give my service center a call tomorrow and see if plastic is covered under warranty. Maybe get the exhaust finishers thrown in for free or 50% off. :D Anyways I was a little dissapointed when I saw that, but if thats only thing that has happened "knock on wood" then I am doing good.

I've got a HKS on my 8 and have noticed that my plastic surround is also starting to warp as well.
I don't think I've ever managed to get flames from my tips but I know the exhaust tips get extremely hot after a round of "spirited driving".
I'm just gonna wait till they completely melt and replace them with the Ings pods.

The HymeeEnhanced exhausts shoots flames
My plastic surrounds melted after a very hard 1-hour chassis dyno session (no air flow at the rear of the car to take the heat away). Of all the RX-8's that have been on the track with a Hymee Enhanced exhaust, none have melted to my knowledge.
Cheers,
Hymee.
BTW - What are "Ings pods"?

Ings pods are replacement bodykit parts for the rear plastic exhaust surrounds.
Not the full rear bar, just the surrounds.
They're very similar to the stock items except they have extensions.
Click on the link and select rear view.

I've had no melting issues with neither my stock exhaust nor my Racing Beat cat back.

Called Mazda today about warping. I talk to service tech and she didn't know if it would be covered. She had the service manager called me. He left a message saying that if there has been no exhaust mods then it should be covered but he would have to see it first. I am guess he wants to see to make sure exhaust is stock. So all I need to do is call back tomorrow and make an appointment. Then hopefully this won't happen again. I am going to try to get him to give me deal on exhaust finishers since this happen. More then likely he won't but can't hurt to try.

That is when it happened. No air flow round the rear of the car.
My car plus numerous others with the HymeeEnhanced exhaust have spent plenty of time on the track and plenty of "spirited" driving without issue. It only happened in the chassis dyno cell as there was no fresh air flow to take the heat away, after about 1 hour of very hard work.

When you run your hand from side to side you can feel the bump. Thats how I noticed it when I was washing my car. Then I took a look and you can see the warping.

Warping is when it's pretty much deformed in shape and feels quite uneven.
