P2107 is the APV valves, probably one is gummed up and stuck, need to remove the lower intake manifold and clean 'em. Big job.

Or buy a code reader/resetter and keep clearing the codes.

Your work shop people are stupid. they don't know RX-8

As StealthTL suggested, remove the LIM to clean/fix the issue.

I have this exact issue, which they are also struggling to fix as they cannot determine what is causing it.
It started happening after the apex seals where done and my clutch replaced.

Chenket, could they fix this issue on your car? Can you remember what the fix was?

^Oh... they did your apex seals? ...was it just a quick in and out? ... How much did they charge for it?

The mechanic had the car for a week. It was not done by Mazda, but by a Rotary guy (he also drives one). The issue started after i got it back and the car has since been there for about 3 weeks, while he is trying to sort the issue out. He says in his 18 years working on rotaries, he has never had a car that has stumped him like this one. He has tried a lot of stuff (checked connector, sensors etc). Even swapped parts (throttle body, harness) from his car to mine. The problem remains unsolved.

The apex and clutch was just some of it. There were oil and water seals replaced as well. My total bill was R22k (South African Rand). About $1500 or 1200(GBP). But you must take into account, this was not done by a Mazda dealership. I suppose should the same have been done at the dealership it would have easily have been double or more.

The reason I was suspect was because the engine needs to come out, and apart, for the apex seals to be changed, and chances are if one of them is bust then there is a lot more wrong in there than just seals needing to be replaced...

No worries. All of that was done. Everything was checked. No damage to rotors etc. I think I found a solution on one of the other threads. It seems like it is most probably a bad PCM. Which my mechanic is also suspecting it is.

Long read but worth it. We went through the same process that this guy did. I hope this solves the issue. Expensive fix though. Lets hope for the best.
