I know this isnt the answer you want hear, but sell the auto and buy a MT. The hit your going to take on trade in an purchasing the MT 8 will be less than the conversion.

It's never been done. And about the only suggestion I have for you. Forget it.

Turbo charger and Cobb Access Port. That'll get you down the road faster.

I assume you could turbocharge it but with the rev limiter on the automatic it kind of defeats the purpose, unless you got a turbo that provides good boost at low RPM...other than that upgrading the intake and exhaust might help a little bit.

Your engine also cannot make the same HP as the 6-speed, it has two less ports. I have been around this board since 2004 and I know of no member that has done this. That is because of what redpit10 said. Your only other option to get more power out of your 4-port is to leave it AT and add a Turbo / SC

The RX-8 was never intended to be a good drag car. Sell it and get a Mustang.

if ur loooking for a drag car i would find something with some torque liek some old school muscle it is not meant to drag without quite a bit of money invested even then i don't think it's a 10 second car or anything

If you wanted a drag car you should not have gotten an RX-8 much less an automatic version.

If you have the cash for it consider swapping in a 20B engine, that'll run you 10K at least but you'll make 350HP easily, and from what I've heard those ONLY come in automatic without significant modification.

You'd be better off droping in a V8 with a turbo 350-400 in it.

Well depends on which other imports, and unless the manual driver is really awful than yes they will always have faster times.

1. Remove rev limiter with ECU flash. Cobb AP can do it. Hymee and EFIDude should be able to in the future.

2. Get Automatic Transmission Cooler or BHR radiator with built in AT Cooler.

3. Change AT fluid to high performance one like Redline.

4. Go FI. Turbo or Supercharger.

Wow, just wow. Some of the questions on here lately are just, wow! Not trying to be a *** here, but you really should have done your research on the car first. Go buy yourself a nice cheap 1G or 2G DSM.
