Congratulations Rotogirl. As long as you get the recalls done, check the oil regularly, and redline once a day, you are gonna love your 8. I know I do. Welcome!

I have a 2004 MT along with several others tin the Rotolution So. Cal. Club.

Some have 05's and 06's.

No one has had a problem. Some Auto X, and aome HPDE.

The only problem you will have is the love for the RX 8 vs your wife/girlfriend.

gas cap

I'm only in service for maintainance.
Glad to hear about the gas cap causing the check engine light to come on. The same day I posted the thread looking for good reviews I started the car and the check engine light came on. I haven't even had the car a full week Had only filled her up once. Took her to the dealer and they are checking her out today. The fella at the service dept checked the gas cap when we dropped her off and said it felt kinda loose or something. Lord please let that be all it is. I'm so stressed I think my head is gonna pop.
Please everyone keep the good reviews coming.

I also found out that low fuel can cause the CEL in this car. I was getting a CEL when I got down to around a quarter tank, and thought it was bad gas (in the car, not in me). But it happened with gas from 3 different stations. I took another look at my owner's manual and found a blurb about how low fuel levels could cause a CEL.

There's a TSB on the gas cap, they should replace it.....Just had mine done, no biggie. It's just something in the computer that measures vacuum in the gas tank and when the cap is loose it will cause the CEL to come on. Thats what was explained to me by the dealer. Hang in there......

Well according to this, 7 out of 10 owners are "highly satisfied", and over 90% are either "highly satisfied" or "somewhat satisfied"… https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/satisfaction-survey-your-rx-8-a-15032/

2004 Manual RX-8 GT 32K Miles.

Love it, especially on cool evenings with the windows down and the moonroof open.

2005 MT Touring. 17k miles, no issues save the recall work and squeaky brakes (fixed under warranty). Other than an occasional, transient rattle from the overhead console, this car is great. The fact that you're here probably dictates you know how to maintain the car, which is probably better than 50% of RX-8 owners out there. Don't fret and just drive it like you stole it.

Also, we demand pics. Grats, and welcome to the club!

Just drive the car. Keep it under 4k till you've driven 10 mins or so. If you idle it in the driveway, you're wasting gas and you're building up carbon.

At least give the car 15 seconds for the self check to finish though..
