Question Plugs Coils Wires. PLEASE HELP

Hey Guys,

So from the wonderful members here at rx8 club I have been advised to change me plugs coils and wires before I take my car to the dealership to get them to test it for why I lose power at high rpm and why it hard starts when the engine is hot.

Only problem is, I have very little car knowledge. I went to Auto Value today and they said I would need 4 leading and 4 trailing plugs, totaling $450.00 iridium plugs.

I thought this didn't sound right at all so I didn't buy it. Where would you guys recommend buying the parts from?

Am I correct when I say that the rx8 only needs 2 Leading and 2 Trailing plugs?

Do I need to replace the coils and the wires as well? Just wondering because from what Ive read, it sounds like alot of people only replace the plugs and they never mention anything about the wires or coils?

Thanks so much! Help is Greatly Appreciated!!!

Huh? since when did we have a R26B engine ??? 8 Spark plugs ??? FAILED

Where do u live?

You should contact Mazmart, last I know he is selling all 4 spark plugs for 80 bux shipped within US. Dunno about coils price now since Japanese Yen has been going up/USD has been going down like there is no tomorrow.

Give them a call, 1-800-221-5156 for fastest respond.

Canada, I'm sure Mazmart ships to Canada, it might cost a bit more, but its worth it, at least I'm 100% sure it will be A LOT cheaper than buying it in Canada

So im looking at these spark plugs by NGK and im seeing different option such as "premium iridium" and "laser iridium" is there a certain kind I need to get?
Also how important is it to get the MAZDA Coils? or would it be okay to just get something that fits the oem specs(intermotor coils)?

Thanks guys!!!

BWD Intermotor coils seems to do the job just fine, in fact they are visibly identical as OEM (I am using a set of them now). Mazda may just be re-branding these.

As far as spark plugs.. you need 2 RE7C-L and 2 RE9b-T.. should say laser iridium and they are made by NGK.

Nobody said BHR upgrade to Yukon coils for $485. and $80. for the plugs.

It looks like a lifetime overkill upgrade, and the stock coils are barely good enough to start the car without flooding.
